Should Rolex introduce a DJ baguette dial?
I’m sure they have their reasons for not doing it but they already have the square diamond markers so why not introduce baguettes?? I can only imagine how nice a TT RG sundust dial would look with baguettes! Is this a configuration you would like to see?

The rainbow Daytona has baguettes in the bezel
Likewise the 5 digit Serti dials had set baguettes

Probably a desire to keep the DD, and PM in general, more exclusive and desirable. Only full-PM get baguettes, and it's one of the things that encourages people to buy them.

I don't think Rolex will put baguettes hour markers on TT models. Just baguettes hour markers will add another $10k to the watch. If the price is going to be that high, most people would rather go for full PM watches.

Baguettes only add about $4-6k to the price. Sure now you’re talking only $2-3k more for that than regular diamonds. I think there is a market for a $15k DJ41. Similar price point as a Bluesy but for those who want a little more elegance in that price range. But I agree it probably won’t happen since the baguettes add to the exclusivity factor.

On a RG DD36 diamond markers add $3,000. So we're talking less than $1,500 difference. That's what makes me think it's an exclusivity thing. |

Almost. I would opt for the chocolate dial.

The one thing I'll add: If, and it's a big "if," diamond dials on men's watches become a "thing" (and I sincerely hope/believe they won't) then it wouldn't surprise me if all DJ41 diamond dials became baguettes and more color varieties were offered.

Personally I think baguettes would look a lot cleaner than the current diamond markers

The baguette diamond thing seems curious to me. It is positioned as the most premium option, but generally baguettes are known for being lower quality and less brilliant than other cuts. I get that they are naturally of a shape which mimics a stick marker, so I can see why they get used, I'm just not following the perception of them being the primo gem or the resulting inability to get them on "lesser" models.

I don't think Rolex will introduce an OP or DJ with rainbow bezel, but that people will not shy away from diamonds in watches as they have for the past 20 years. |

Yes and no. Market insanity has given us that relationship, but it's still different from Rolex themselves pricing the SS Daytona at $40k and the Gold one at $20k. It feels like the real answer is probably more tied to psychology and perceptions about masculinity. Diamonds, after all, are a girl's best friend. So how do you sell a bunch of alpha males the notion of diamonds being on the ultimate "boss" watch? Perhaps it starts by picking stones that don't have a traditional diamond look.
