Olive day date Arab dial
No idea if this ones been posted here before but I was wondering how one would go about Acquiring an amazing piece such as this day date. I’m assuming youd have to be best buddies with an oil baron in Dubai or something

It has been posted before. If you look at the owner’s Instagram profile you’ll see he has quite a number of exclusive off catalog pieces. That particular model is only available for the Middle East market and select clients, of course.

It’s also platinum if I’m not mistaken. A beauty for sure.

As much as I like it, I don't think I could get used to what looks like a '7' being at the six o'clock marker.
I could give it a try, though. |

I must ask what is people's fascination with Arabic dials? Surely you wouldn't have a clue whether the day or date is set correctly if you don't speak the language? Not sure I see the point in having it over English or whichever language you do speak

Different languages are beautiful! And wristwatches are no longer really practical. They're primarily Jewelry. Also, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to learn another languages days of the week, or numbers, if you really want to.

Then if you consider the many individuals who speak and read the language without being Arabic, you have even more people interested. For those with no clue about the language, I understand it’s a bit exotic. But anybody can retain 7 words and 12 numbers, can’t they. |

Or it's the timepiece equivalent of the White guys who get Chinese or Japanese character tattoos without having a clue what they mean, because they "look cool" (even though they could easily say "I cut off my own genitals" along with a samurai sword, and the guy would have no idea).

This was my thought as well. Can't be hard to learn the days and numbers of another language. That took about 1 week in Spanish class back in 6th grade.

Of course the two are different but there are similarly ignorant reasons many might get either. |

I agree, some individuals want the exotic clout and their cultural interest is skin deep, using their cool item/tattoo as a differentiator. They want to look cool by the virtue of having something different. And indeed this is a bit ridiculous. But on the other hand, you have people who, like me, really enjoy the differences that culture bring about. My Apple Watch could display non Arabic numbers and I loved it. |
