Icon19 Rose gold thoughts?

For those that have a rose gold TT watch, do you find the gold to be too similar to stainless? Some photos show rose gold to look like a faded yellow gold, as if the gold color has worn away...

I haven't been able to look at a TT rose gold watch yet, but am still considering one over a yellow gold TT. Some days I wake up thinking the rose gold would be something different, and other days I wake up thinking yellow gold stands out more and looks more expensive....

Any thoughts on rose gold for those that have first hand experience?

Rose gold is the hot metal right now. Hotter than SS.

In saying that I'd always choose Yellow Gold if it was my first precious metal piece. Nothing better than wearing a full YG Rolex on your wrist. THAT feels like something real real special.

Are you saying you WANT it to "stand out and look more expensive?" If that's what you are going for get the YG TT

TT Rose Gold gives a warmer tone, less flash. I don't think it blends into the stainless. Gives a more orange/red tone outside. Doesn't look faded at all to me, just a different color vs yellow gold

Depends on who is doing the RG and what it's in. Sometimes it's classy and well put together. Other times it comes across as a cheap fashion watch.

Poor choice of words I suppose.... Not really wanting it to stand out, but not really wanting it to look like SS either. Seems like lots of daytime sunlight photos don't project much difference in SS and RG.... yes my other watches are SS (Sub and old DJ)

Again, I haven't seen a RG TT in person though....

Definitely go see it in person. I have not seen ANY pictures online or in a video do a RG TT watch any justice. My picture included.

Under a dim light, it can sometimes blend in and look like PCL's. I definitely prefer the slightly understated look anyway but normal daytime sunlight, its very very obvious its RG.

Remember, although it is the bracelet that is mostly RG, you will see the finer things in person like the RG lumes, hands, crown etc. Those finer parts are what make the watch IMO.

The RG TT is a different class as compare to YG TT. I think the RG added some vibrancy but taking away flashiness and it exactly what I wanted.

It is difficult to capture the look of it in a photo and the lighting makes a big difference.

I would say while yellow gold gives off a "loud" vibe, rose gold gives off a "warm" vibe. It doesn't look like stainless but it doesn't jump off the watch into your face like yellow gold can.

i think two tone rose gold works very well but it's definitely subdued compared to yg. there are certain environments where it looks like a regular steel watch though

No it doesn’t look like stainless steel whatsoever … it’s a completely different colour

No, RG isn't similar to SS unless you're color blind.

TT YG and TT RG are both beautiful it's just depends on personal preference.

TT YG or TT RG look better, it depends on the combination with the color of the dial such as Chocolate dial would go better with RG than YG.

This is important. Rose gold tends to look better on olive or darker-skinned individuals. I don’t think it looks good on those with fair skin, which works better with yellow gold.

Rose gold or Rolex “Everose” will stand out more than yellow gold by its copper/brown/red look. It’s a very warm color giving a darker appearance than yellow gold.
Rose gold is very popular right now but hasn’t been on the past. It’s trending the last 3 years. My skin tone didn’t work with its hue.

I like the subtilness of RG. It matches perfectly with SS in my opinion.

The skin tone is a interesting point. My skin is definitely pretty light. Still, I am intriqued by RG. Should skin tone stop or cause second thoughts when considering RG?

Nice watch photos from everyone by the way!

Not at all. I have light to medium skin tone and it looks great, but try one on and see. Good luck

I have pale Irish almost snowflake skin. RG actually works better for me than YG. Might be the brown hair, who knows, but it looks good

Everose has a definite pink hue to it … it’s made of yellow gold and copper is added, giving it that pink / copper hue. They are nice looking, especially with some dials … see one in person, and make sure a pinkish hue is for you.

All these pics look great, yet imho you MUST see it in person. The Rootbeer is amazing, and the DD40 Everose is gorgeous. So, again, go see it in person.

LOL I understand believe me!

One nice thing about this particular watch is you can actually order it from the AD and get it at (gasp!) retail price! Never thought we'd get to the point that paying full MSRP is considered a win but it is!

SS versions of the Datejust41 are going for nearly the same price pre-owned as this one new so I couldn't see the downside of going with the TT

For me, rose gold is a more modern gold and also works better with my skin tone. However, I don't have a preference, as there are yellow gold pieces that I like as well.

I've had experience with two rose TT watches. This is my subjective feedback from my time with them;

CHNR - The rose gold on the PCL oyster did seem to blend in to the steel at times, especially in bright sunlight and dim lighting indoors. The rose gold on the edge of the bezel was always noticeable, though. As Mystro mentioned, it was a very warm look and almost looked like copper.

DJ41 - I have the same configuration that Mike does. The jubilee bracelet seems to display the rose gold much better than the oyster. Each piece in the link plays with light independently, as opposed to the smooth and subtle look of the oyster. This combined with the fluted bezel gives it some serious sparkle, as the bezel plays with light as well.

The best way I can summarize this, is that the rose on my DJ shines bright and looks like it's gold, while the CHNR was more muted and looked like copper.

Really wanted to like RG and tried on a DD but it doesn’t work with my light skin tone. RG on a Nautilus is totally different for some reason and shows much nicer.

While I don’t have any SS/RG in TT I do have 2 in full RG and chose RG because of they way it blends in period. Skin tone was a part of it. I’m Caucasian with a light tan so nothing shocking there lol but for me YG was far more noticeable/loud on the wrist and WG looks a tad like SS. So it’s really just depends on what look you’re after. Now I will say even with RG it is noticeable. I fell in love with RG and will more then likely stick with it on a 3rd piece. Just personal preference. Here’s 2 examples for you to consider on my wrist/skin tone
