Red Sub : advice please

Hi all,
I pursue my search for a nice red sub :)
For this one the dial and the lugs seam ok, but what about the crown gards ?
Service insert or fake ?
What is your overall appraisal ?

I could not tolerate that case. Take a look at the crown guards on some other examples.

Need to call to get the price. Knowing the vendor (famous trusted one in Paris - France) it should be above 30K

TBH, it doesn't feel quite like a "famous dealer" watch to me.

Don't disagree with the case comments here -- but it's not everyday you see an MKI dial -- if that matters to you OP, certainly follow though and check pricing and determine if it's worth it to you...

It’s a nice dial. You could the case refinished and get a period correct insert. All depends on price. But dial supersedes case and insert IMO.

Protect your hard earned money and don't buy it until you have it fully authenticated inside & outside (case back opened and fully inspected).

I dont see anything wrong with it.... looks like a correct Mark I dial to me. What are we missing?

Agree with the others on the case condition, etc.

I wasn't saying it's wrong. It's just different (i.e., left-aligned) from the centralized symmetrical alignment of, for example, a MK IV.

The crown guards are filed down to the nub. It’s sad that people think it makes the watch look better back in the day

Red sub is one of my all time favorites!!! Inspect and inspect again. Definitely worth investing in the right one. But expect to pay a premium…

Only thing that is worth is buying for under market value and sending the case to get totally reworked and the crown guards brought back……restoration project

Someone's done a dreadful job on those crown guards. Looks like they fired up the polishing wheel on the 10:00 o'clock side and wandered off for a cup of tea.

The condition of those crown guards makes an otherwise great watch very undesirable to me at any price really. Seriously over-polished and a huge mismatch between the two sides just to add insult to injury.

Doesn’t have crown guards it has ground guards. I would find a better example.
