Rolex Sports Models and Tux

Vote yes if you support wearing a Sub/ SD/ Daytona etc with a Tux/ Suit and no if you don't. Please also give logical reason as to why shouldt a Sports Rolex be worn with a Suit/Tux.

To me, not wanting to wear a Sports Rolex with a Suit/Tux is like refusing to drive a top of the range sports car wearing a suit/ Tux!!! I personally think that for men in their Teens, 20's, 30's and 40's; Non Sports Rolex models like President are probably too bland.

I wear a suit everyday for work and wear either my SS Sub Date or SS Daytona white dial white. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. I can't give you an exact reason why other than it's my style.

My vote is no but only because I'm a bit traditional when it comes to that kind of thing. I believe that the formal etiquette when wearing a Tuxedo is to wear no watch. I'm as big a fan of Bond as the next; however, just because a fictional movie character does it that doesn't make it right.

Ya know, I've had it. Even though I don't think it's the best idea I don't blast people who wear Subs with suits, but several who do don't mind lambasting my choice of dress watches. Your car to tux comparison isn't a good one. It would be more like if you wore tennis shoes with the tux. When I use to drive my Porsche convertible around town in gym pants it still got stares. Your watch is part of your attire. Your car is not.

Here's the deal. I'm 28 and for you to say that the day date (president) that I have on my wrist right now is bland is frankly trollish. I don't feel the need to bring others down to make myself feel better about my decisions. Tell you what, where this

out one night. I had 2 compliments last night on it, so I guess "bland" isn't the best way to describe it. I'll just sit back now and wait for the- James Bond did it so it's good enough for me, argument.


Edit:I was so mad after reading his intial post that I missed the Bond reference already made. If you're going to go diving after having your way with the lady you just met at the card game because there's a guy with a saw blade yo-yo on the other side of the beach, then yes, you should wear your Sub with the tux. Otherwise, be leery of imitating the fashion statements of fictional Sean Connery characters...

Exactly, just do what you want. Why do you need reassurance? I put my TT Sub on a strap and a lot of people turned their noses, but who cares. I kinda like it. I don't have to tell them their's are stupid to make me feel better about my own. If a Sub with a Tux does it for you, wear it out.

Rolex design watches....movements, cases and bracelets (even leather straps!).....they do it in a most fantastic way....if they didn't we would not be here...

They do design "tool" and "professional" watches.....some are designed to do special things.....ALL tell the time acurately and most keep on doing so with only the slightest wrist movement required......of course all models do not appeal to all people, that's natural.....

Yes, granted, you do not see many teenages wearing a DD, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the main reason......cost.....

IMHO I think any Rolex looks good with a tux or a tee-shirt......I never ever wear a watch to match my clothes....I am lucky enough to have choices and I always wear the one I want to wear....at any time.....

I also think that there are plenty young guns out there who would love to own a DD......I don't think it's "an old mans watch"....I wanted one so badly from the age of 8......it took me 'till I was 39 to get one......I just got my first sports model two months ago......my first 2 were DJ's.....I love them all fiercely....and I will continue to wear them with whatever clothes I happen to have on......

If you want to be proper, no watch is to be worn with a tux. That being said, I wore a DeepSea with a proper tux last week (on a rubber strap). I have also worn a Panerai (also on a rubber strap) with a proper tux.

As for which watch? Likely the only person that will even notice is the wearer, but if you pushed me for an answer, I'd have to say that any would be fine with whatever you chose to wear.

I think any of the Rolex Sports watches are fine with a tux or suit. The Rolex Sports watches are elegant and classy. They are not big and cheap looking. I think they are the best of both worlds and go with anything.

With that band, I would say take that lighter and burn it!

If you replace the band with a bracelet and polish it, then I would say definitely yes.

It didn't help. People insist on making the silly "if it's good enough for James Bond" argument - this thread being a case in point.

It's interesting that so many who care enough to ask if a dive watch goes with formal attire don't care enough to hear the answer (which, of course, is "no.") If you insist on "doing whatever you want," why bother asking?
