Icon2 SOLD: Serviced Vintage GRAND SEIKO Hi-BEAT 5646-7010 (1971)

GRAND SEIKO Hi-BEAT 5646-7010 (1971)

This 5646-7010 is one of the more faithful examples of Taro Tanaka’s famous Grammar of Design, with the uncommon silver sunburst dial, which was only shown in one catalogue (1972) during this model’s several years in production.

The movement was serviced by Michael Young’s Classic Watch Repair last month (December 2021) and is showing excellent numbers on the timegrapher (see last photo). A PDF of the service paperwork will be provided.

Condition

The case is very good overall – please see photos – and the caseback gold medallion is in excellent condition with surrounding text still clear and well defined.

Dial and hands are also very good, and the Hardlex crystal only has a couple of light scratches.

The original GS-signed crown operates perfectly for winding, setting the time, and for operating the double-quickset day and date. A new caseback seal was added during the service, but as with most vintage watches, water resistance is not to be expected.
