Hodinkee Insurance
Good morning all,
Currently use JM for my watch insurance. Thinking of switching to Hodinkee, had them quote me at full market value. People using Hodinkee are you insuring at retail or market value? Thanks In advance Jim |

Definitely at market value. There is just such a huge difference between retail and market value for many watches. I recently switched from JM to Hodinkee and have been very pleased with how easy it has been to setup.

Currently my only Rolex is a 16220 DJ, so it's insured with Hodinkee at market value.

Just switched my insurance from JM to Hodinkee at market value. JM has been too slow and too difficult.

I’d like to switch too but I’m seeing the pricing for JM be around .8 and Hodinkee at 1.4. Seems quite a difference

I recently switched to HODINKEE from JM for watch insurance. My coverage for most of my watches were above retail but not at the height of the current market pricing since the HODINKEE coverage already allows for up to 150% of the coverage value up to market value, which I found very convenient and fair. I didn’t like having to go through reappraisal for my watches periodically to update coverage with JM. Also, HODINKEE annual premium was 1.2% vs JM’s 1.6% which was also a nice surprise. I have a policy with them at market price. They are easy to deal with and no fuss.

I use both. JM for wife’s jewelry and a couple of Rolex that aren’t highly appreciating pieces and Hodinkee for Daytona, GMT, Sub etc.
I much prefer Hodinkee and no deductible but they are a bit higher…. |

I insure with Hodinkee. I just raised the coverage amount via the iPhone app for my Explorer 1 from $10300 to $12000 and it increased $15 a year. Was nice to be able to do in about 60 seconds using my iPhone. Highly recommend Hodinkee

Just insured 3 watches with Hodinkee last week, my rate was right at 1.3% at market value.

Hodinkee Watch Insurance is an easy way to insure your watches. Though, I cannot vouch for how easy they are to deal with if you have to file a claim. The App is well thought out and easy to adjust watch values as they change.

A member here posted a thread a couple weeks back and got reimbursed for his stolen watch within six days of filing.

I signed up with them when they first made the announcement a year or so back, it’s the easiest way to insure your timepieces especially if you rotate the collection a bit.

I have my watches on a personal articles policy from State Farm and haven't had any problems and the expense seems pretty reasonable. It is for complete replacement insurance and so far, they only had to pay up on one watch about 8 years ago when a VC Overseas was stolen. They originally offered me cash as the replacement was going to take about 2 months. I told them I would wait and actually received it in 5 weeks complete with AD stamp dated the day the watch was shipped to me. I'm not sure how they would handle the current shortage of watches and the contrast between street value and MSRP but I don't really worry about it.
Cheers, Jonathan |
