Thats hours, not years..Incoming!!

Once upon a time, in the not so distant past, I had a SA that did a really good job taking care of my watch requests. Not everything I sked for, but pretty close. He moved on to stake his claim in real estate, I still keep in touch with him, that relationship became more of a personal relationship than one of a simple transactional nature. He left the AD maybe 2 yrs ago. On his way out, he did his best to hand me off to another long time SA. While she is super nice, I always get the vibe that, ultimately, she could care less if I took my next breath. To contrast the varied treatment my SA friend shipped me a BB58 Blue without even telling me, it arrived at my office the day in was announced publicly. Yes, that was risky for him to assume, but it was all good. The current SA still has yet to get me a Tudor Chrono Panda, because they “just don’t get that many.” I have purchased something in the neighborhood of 8 or 9 Rolex, 5 Tudors, multiple straps and bracelets for each brand, and a few small pieces of jewelry for my wife and oldest daughter from this store.

I have finally talked myself into something a little extra for this year and about a week ago I called and asked SA2 about a DD40. She said that it was likely to take years. Years? I asked. Yes, very long wait for that, she claims. Ok, fine, do you have much of a wait for a YG Skydweller? Yes, that is also years. Huh….ok. Well I would also like to reiterate my request for a LV sub. Yeah, she says, that is also going to take years, too. I see. Well how about the WG Blue Sub that SA1 supposedly ordered for me before he left? Yeah, that also is going to take years, I’m afraid. At that point I made it clear it already has been years, 3 in fact. She then says (again) “We just don’t get that many and the owner decides who gets them.” So, you have received one, just not for me? Well, yes. Gotcha, thanks.

Fortunately, there are others out there that have a different perspective. Yesterday at 2:15pm EST I called DSW stated my interest and made an offer. Exactly 27 hrs, 17 mins later(not that I was counting) this bad daddy MOAT (mother of all timepieces) is now rocking a new home. This is my first full PM piece and what watch it is! I suppose on one hand I am glad my AD is so busy that they don’t need or care about my business, but on the other hand is now a Day Date. Sorry sister, that’s hours, not years.

As for the WG Sub? Check back in a week or two……

Sorry to hear that the AD couldn’t help out.

But a huge congratulations on a stunning piece.

Time to go tell your old AD that you found a new one, maybe Pretty Women style.

Incredible watch. Congratulations.

Congrats! Spectacular and special piece you have there, that's a real beauty!!

By the way I think I have to use the term "MOAT" more often now

Great and sadly a familiar story. Bought my Bluesy from a grey July of 20 because I was tired of the AD where I had bought a dozen watches, mostly Rolexes for myself and my family, telling me the exact same story. In fact my new SA told me I would not be high on the list for lack of total spend there. Anyway congrats!

Why people bother with AD’s and their games is beyond me. I am glad the OP got his watch. It is beautiful and a staple piece in rolex collecting…..my belief anyways.

Just for giggles, here’s what my new SA had to say to me in an email. I will say, the CEO of the company apologized to me about her email but 6 months later and still nothing after 4 years now! Kind of amazing to have achieved so many things in my life to be told where I stand by a young sales associate…

“ Unfortunately, when it comes to Rolex Daytonas and Patek Philippe Nautilus watches, there is not much we can do. We receive barely a handful of these watches each year, and the few watches we do receive are rewarded to the ***** **** clients spending the most money with us outside of hot watches. ”…

Good for you. No one wants to hear you have to wait so long for something you're paying for. You will pay a little more cash, but you get what you want, when you want. Congrats and ejnoy.

At least she was honest - that's the way it works unfortunately.

Great addition. Sadly that SA could probably care less as they are selling every watch they get anyway. But heck it’s nice to have the option, if you’re willing to pay the premium, to go Grey. I’ve done it as well. But I sure do miss the days when the Greys were less expensive than the ADs. Now I’m thrilled to get a chance to get something at MSRP! Regardless great pickup and it looks great on you. Enjoy
