I really don’t understand the market for this watch. It’s panned for being too big but people go bananas about the James Cameron ..? Makes no sense to me why this watch isn’t more popular.

Congratulations. I have had an on again and off again relationship with the SD43. I got one of the first ones and was smitten and wore it a great deal. Kind of fell out with it and moved it along and have owned it a couple of times since then. I currently own one and am wearing it right now. As much as I like my Submariner-C ND and my Hulk and DSSD JC this one my be the overall winner for me. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist, depending on the weather, and the dial and the red text are amazing. I think I will keep it for a while this time.

SUPER NICE!! It has been my grail since trying on my friends more than 18 months ago. I got mine on 1/1/2022. My white SMP 300 and blue Pelagos have not been worn since.

Did you sneak in at the 2021 price, or did they hit you with the increase?

Beautiful! I can see why you don't want to take it off -- fits your wrist great, as well. Congrats.

I have a black SMP300 that was my daily, and have not worn it since I got the 43. I’m planning to do a side by side write-up and comparison of the two. There are some things I miss about the 300.

I bought it on the grey market BNIB with stickers. The listed price was so low that I could not believe what I was seeing and I negotiated another $500 off of that. WHAT? Too good to be true in my mind, so I was apprehensive. It arrived and has been SPECTACULAR. Days later when talking to the seller he said that his employee listed the wrong (lower) price. Not sure if that is true or not, but an amazing transaction either way. (Total, to my front door was very nearly the same as the increased price.)

I will be looking forward to your write-up. SMP 300 is OUTSTANDING no question. Blue Pelagos is OUTSTANDING too. (I think I may like the Pelagos more than the SMP 300, but they are both OUTSTANDING.) SD 43 is GRAIL. (First and likely only Rolex BTW.)

Not to take over the OP's post, but really quick. My Omega has the best accuracy at +1 sec / day. Pelagos has about the same accuracy but in the opposite / worse direction, - 1 sec /day. SD 43 is just a teeny, tiny bit faster than the Omega, around + 16 sec in 15 days. (Completely unscientific measurements BTW.)

Nice! There's something to be said about people who keep going back to the same thing whether it's cars, watches or whatever. There's something calling you back everytime.

It is the coolest tool watch out there, a real passion piece that hits the right notes and lovely proportions, very nice pics and enjoy.

The SD43 has entirely erased my desire to get a 41mm sub. After buying a 16570 I love the older smaller cases. IMO, everything about the sd43 is better than the current sub design. It really blows my mind when people are arguing that the sd43 is massive compared to the maxi cases. It's pretty similar in my experience and I have a smaller wrist.

Unfortunately, this means that I'll be buying a vintage Sub at some point to quell that appetite. Hoping for a market crash so I can afford a red line!

I can totally see this happening, making a move towards a vintage makes more sense for differentiation, the SD43 really leaves nothing to desire further from a Sub41.

Looks great! Had it a few times, and it’s an amazing watch but didn’t quite have enough love for it to keep. Looks better on you than it did me!

The SD43 is that tool watch with just the right size and proportions. Since day 1 on my wrist I’ve enjoyed every minute, and it could be a daily driver for me. Nice pics OP, cheers-

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^GORGEOUS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The SD43 will be my next Rolex purchase--too bad I'll have to wait 12-18 months for it tho :( (I'm not paying $16-17K for a gray/used one (who knows what you're getting!) when the list on these New at Rolex Dealers was 11 & some change a few months ago....).

B4 starting my watch journey, i always think a sub is must have. But since i got my sd43, and yes took me a month or so to fall in total love with it. The weight the size. The wear. Tbh not many can pull off wearing a sd43. It does not sit well on many wrist. But if it does it for u. Man. This thing is a keeper. Sub on steriods and looks way better than a sub. No offence to sub. But i have totally dispelled my thoughts on getting the black or green sub for now.

Might only want the 2t bluesy at best or perhaps the white gold sub. Loving heavy watches now. Hee.

In fact, i told my ad i would love to get the 2t sd43. And i hope he can get it for me this year.

I tink i wont get tired of having 2x sea dwellers in my collection

Agreed, athough this is changing. Used to be a bargain on the grey market a few months ago, with just a 20% premium over retail. Not so much of a bargain lately at 50%+, but still better than the hot models.

Congrats!

Sd43 was a home run by Rolex
The redline is simply sublime on that satin-like dial. Brings a smile every time I look at it.

Luckily, the two 50/50 below keep me happy… and away from all the crazy hype going on with Rolex atm.
