Humbled and Ecstatic..Incoming

I know there are heaps of incomings daily here, but I was seriously blown away a few weeks ago. Take Note. I had no purchase history other than a relatively cheap gemstone ring with my AD.

I know everyone talks about how AD's are just businesses (which they are), but there is still some really cool people out there.

I went in looking for a SMP300 about a year ago and really hit off with the SA. The interesting part is that they wouldn't come close to discounting the pieces I wanted, so I ended up buying two Omegas and a Pelagos elsewhere. I told her I could never be "that client" that spends 50-100k a year, so I had no expectations, it's just a watch. I just told her to put me on the GMT list for kicks and giggles. I'm an airline pilot, and the BLNR has always been my grail. Anyway, throughout the next few months I would text her some funny watch memes everyone once in a while and would engage in playful banter.

I went in about 3 months ago just to say hi and show her my 3861 I bought from Toppers. We talked watches for a bit. Before I left, she mentioned she may be able to procure a Submariner for me. I said I would love a Sub, but somewhere there is someone on your list that desires the Sub as much as I want a GMT, and they should have it. I think she was surprised I would turn down such an appreciating asset. She simply said, "That's kind of you, I like to think good things come to kind people".

Fast forward to a few weeks ago.....I get this text randomly..

"Will you please quit buying your watches from other people and buy from me"....

I lol'd and said "I would love to, but you're too darn expensive for us regulars"

To which she responded ..."Fair enough, but find me someone who can give you a better deal on this 126710BLNR I have waiting in the safe for you"

So today...after an 11 month wait, I'm wearing my BLNR. Looking at it, it would have been worth an 11 year wait. I'm looking forward to finally being able to post as an official Rolex owner..

What a lovely story! Wear it in good health- always.
Some things are just meant to be; in this case the BLNR found it's way to your wrist.

Congratulations!

Take note those who are confused by the idea of forming a relationship with an AD, or anyone for that matter.

This is how it's done without throwing your dignity in the gutter.

Mine says hello!

Note that’s the way it should be. Pilot gets his GMT because he doesn’t take a sub just because it’s a hot piece and doesn’t pay full retail on items that he can get at discount elsewhere. Congrats on being your true self and your new watch.

Kind words my friend! Thank you.

I appreciate this and all the other congrats.

Needless to say, I've learned quite a bit on this forum, but it's the class of so many of you that stands out above all.

Great choice and worth the wait and honesty. I only waited about 4 months. Wore it yesterday to great client meeting in Philadelphia.

Beautiful watch and a wonderful story along with it.

Congratulations, and sometimes it pays to be genuinely a nice person
