Not a bad predicament to be in. There’s no wrong choice. Depends how you want to use it, I suppose. As a daily, the 5167a would be my choice. For one, I’d prefer SS over PM for a daily. The 5167a is insanely comfortable, thinner, and more under the radar than the other two. It’s also the most difficult one to obtain of the 3.

Patek for me. It's sooo comfortable and it's definitely level up with daily wear!

Just my experience but I have gravitated to the Patek Aquanaut. Now have a 5167, 5164A (my favorite) and a 5167R. All on rubber straps. Beautiful, extremely comfortable and all can be worn daily with ease. Each have gone swimming, played racquetball with zero problems.

Only downside is cost (but only live once) and Patek service, though outstanding, can be costly and lengthy.

All the best.

Here's my ranking:
1. Aquanaut (as you said, the "...Patek is a freaking dream")
2. Daytona (very close second...you'd lose nothing by keeping it)
3. WG Sub

The primary factors I'm considering are looks and comfort...I think that out of your choices here, the rubber strapped watches win over the Sub in both of these categories. Now if the Sub was a Smurf, it might be harder to decide IMO. Best wishes

Get the WG SUB you’ll not regret it. It’s rarer I would say.
Best of luck and congrats on either choice.

Thanks, guys!!! This will be interesting how it plays out.

I’ll probably stay with the Daytona. I just really miss the bracelet of sub (though I have my James Cameron) and also covet that damn Aquanaut!

Tim Mosso did a “VS” between Daytona and RG Patek, and he came out with Daytona on top … your exact watch.

As for the Sub, don’t see it as special. I’d stay with that beautiful Daytona.

I don’t really care for Daytona. A Sub I like the old Smurf more than current one, but that Aquanaut is so cool, I say do it.

The new 126619LB is an amazing watch and one I would highly recommend. You can buy a brand new one for only a slight premium over retail plus tax.

No way I would trade either of those watches for the Patek.

Either keep the Daytona or trade for the sub if that is what you always wanted. Life is too short to not own what you love

Should I? Daytona Oysterflex Panda vs.White Gold Sub vs. Aquanaut 5167A)

Your Daytona is a GREAT model. The gold, ceramic bezel, and panda is perfect combination. Don’t trade it..

I'd go WG sub. It's grown on me quite a bit. Slaps in person too!

Indifferent between Sub and Daytona here. Love the PP but I have difficulty rationalizing trading a gold Rolex, plus cash, for any pre-owned, non-complicated, in-production watch. A straight-up trade to an AD foot brand new 5167? Would do in a heartbeat.

Tough call, but you have already enjoyed your Daytona, so perhaps it is time to swap to a WG Sub as that is your true first love. Leave the PP for later as I am sure you can trade for that in a few years if you really want it.

I would not trade just to trade. I would keep the Daytona and add additional when time allows. The time will give urges time to settle and to make the next perfect choice. My opinion is worth about 2 cents but that is why I would do .

If old Smurf blue on blue I would get with no hesitation. Since it isn’t, I’d get the patek

Keep the oysterflex. I dont think WG Sub can even compare with OysterFlex. But Patek would be awesome if you can find the nice condition.

White gold Submariner would be my pick. I've never been a fan of the Oysterflex variants or the Aquanaut.

Since your initial post, the market price of the 116518 has gone up $20k, so keep that in mind.

That said, I vastly prefer the YG OF Daytona to those others. The market has not reacted that well to the new WG sub. Frankly, I think Rolex got lazy with the 126619LB and 126610LV going from exotic wonderful disks to plain Jane black dials. So I’d skip the new WG sub.

As for the Aquanaut, I’d also skip that one.

You have a lovely YG Daytona, so I recommend you keep it, but if you must trade, I’d be going for the older WG Smurf version 116619LB.

Sub or aqua.

Two very different watches.

Aqua more understated… biggest hurdle with aqua (perfect daily wear) will be getting over the anxiety or scratches etc. if you can commit to appreciating the watch even with scratches, you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of it. The only thing I don’t love about them is the rubber and clasp (don’t like the bracelet option match either)

The sub is a great watch, not sure if I could own the new version without obsessing over the blue dial of the Smurf?

Both great watches but for me neither are the one.

But, after owning so many fine watches I have to share that I picked up a blue Tudor diver BB58 And this watch is a great way for you to have your cake and eat it too … aqua and BB58 is a great pair. The Tudor may be the most satisfying watch I have ever owned. Unlike the Rolex counterpart Tudor encourages the choice between bracket and strap adding another dimension to ownership. Ps never had interest in the Tudor, walked into AD a few days ago for something else and tried it on and walked out with the Tudor.

PPs I had the 5167 and now have the 5164… the strap & clasp still bugs me. Never owned ceramic sub have opted for the 5 digit references.

Since you enjoy the Daytona so much, have you considered swapping for similar on bracelet?
