AK is listed for close to the $15K in one of the well known grey dealer.
Meaning it will be discontinued?! |

isn't the Air King the least sought after model? I don't like the look of that model at all. Why is it so overpriced?

I think there is a lot of speculation that the Air King is being discontinued. Maybe some of the greys have inside information, but I would not bet on it. Surely, I wouldn’t want an Air King that involved a $15,000 outlay. These greys’ pricing is getting ridiculous to the point I do not think they are moving many pieces to final use customers. They are probably just trading between each other, driving up the prices.

Speculation of discontinuation, and fomo is the card they are trying to capitalize on. No, they don’t have insider information. It may get discontinued, it may not.

Only Rolex can see massive price increases when supply increases, bu demand doe snot. The AK, and also the flood of Canada Daytonas on CR24 is a food example.
Normally when the market gets flooded, prices drop. This is our FOMO and speculation. The AK will drop liek a rock after a few buy, it's just not an interesting watch. |

Listed price isn't sold price. Seller is dreaming.

Speculation again. Just like last year yellow gold/green dial that was totally discontinued and people were hoarding and then nothing.

It costs nothing to list a watch for sale. Asking prices are not selling prices. Seems most people around here skipped basic economics.

Have to agree and the Airking is one of the longest production Rolex watches ever.

All this speculation and hype. It's no different than the Explorer 39mm when it got discontinued. It will get everyone all riled up and run around like headless chickens. Greys will make a few bucks off those people with FOMO (for whatever reason... even though it was least popular amongst the sports models) and the market will settle down to what it was before.
Like most modern Rolexes those inflated prices are short lived. (Yes, there might be an overall increase in value... but only due to the fact that whatever replacement is coming out is only going to be that much more inflated). Minus this forum, most Rolex buyers want the shiniest and newest variation of the model. Until any of these pieces become vintage. The neo-vintage or recently discontinued Rolex models will fall behind whatever is the novel item (pricing wise). Look up and down the line up and compare it with is last generation and you'll see it. |

I have one and while some don’t like it - I do . The pricing has got a little silly and wouldn’t be buying at that level but nature of luxury goods , supply , demand , speculation etc etc.

Oh my God, buy three!!! Every Rolex watch will be $100,000 by the end of 2022! Borrow money if you have to, but don't miss this incredible opportunity to get rich quick!

watches are not an investment
I personally don't like the Air King. It just seems like a mish mash of parts. I see why people can like it (I know a couple of people that have it), but if you're really just buying into speculation, good luck. I could be eating crow in a few years when it gets to Hulk prices. |

But if you look at our favorite Chrono24 listings, you'll see most of them in the $10-$12K range that end up "reserved" (or selling at some unknown actual price).
Most of those in the $14K+ club are stock photos from pro dealers just looking for a quick flip if some moron will pay that price. You can easily spot the difference. The lower priced ones are from private sellers who take pictures of the actual watch (often rather poor pictures because they can't eliminate the crystal reflection) and they are in hand available to ship immediately. The "pro dealers" have a stock photo with a multi week lead time. They take your order and then source the watch. There might be someone who pays those prices, but most likely not... |

Who knows. They seem to buy and hold and create their own sub market and demand. I agree with you that the market is bonkers and IMO buyers have more money than sense. Half the people on this board say prices will keep going the other half say it will crash, personally I don’t know what to believe. All I know is that at the current grey prices, I’m not willing to buy anything. To be honest the MSRP prices were already pretty steep. What people fail to remember is that we are buying a product that can be reproduced, albeit in artificially limited numbers, it’s not like we are dealing with a non renewable resource. This flood of buyers from Asia mixed with the I must have it now attitude is what seems to have fuelled this fire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Agreed that the AK market price is high. I won't ever be tempted to buy since that's my least desirable Rolex model.

One of the ugliest watches ever. In its current form, it's a watch made of disparate parts.
