I don't mind Bluesy or the majority of the other nicknames.... However, Cookie monster is awful. It's by far the worst and most cringey

Embarrassing hearing people use them

My other hate is people referring to their watch or car as ‘she’ or ‘her’.

It’s just for humor, no place for hate in the watch community

Blusey also reminds me of the late great JJ

Three pages in and not a single member has referred to the watch by its Rolex given name, 126613LB. I can tell that everyone prefers the Rolex name.

You have never used a nickname on TRF for a Rolex model.

But you did post this classless reply in a thread.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...16&postcount=6

Way worse than using nicknames for a watch?

Yes, JJ called his 16613 ‘Bluesy’ and the name stuck……so?

This whole thread was worth it to remind us of JJ and his Bluesy! Brilliant!!

JJ Irani’s watch was nicknamed bluesy. Mine is my 16613.

16613 is the original Bluesy if there was to be such a thing.

Therefore the 11/126613LB should be BlueC..

I'll get my coat. I dont even like nicknames.

I am not a fan of the nicknames either but I can remember those a lot easier than I can remember the reference numbers. I suspect that is why they stuck.

On a scale from one to ten, I'm at a level zero with how much I care about these silly nicknames.

Nope, not a fan of nicknames at all. Prefer sub/date w/ blue dial and bezel or reference number. I hear Bluesy, Kermit, hulk I'm thinking Invicta.

I’m not good with numbers so I kind of like “The Beverly Hillbilly” to refer to the 16753 in black/gold. Throw in “with the Ellie May dial” and you’ve got the perfect description of the watch ….. without having to memorize all of those numbers.

At the end of the day I'm fine with the nicknames in general and thus, fine with "Bluesy". Some nicknames are much more cringe than others, but it really does make a quick and easy way to differentiate model types.

The only one I HATE is "Root beer" because every time I read it, hear it, think it, or look at my Root beer, I absolutely CRAVEEEE a root beer float!!

Disagree…the attempts to make “Cookie Monster” and “Sprite” work are on my “worst” list.

A couple of my friends had one, and I just called it a TT blue Sub (but of course one word is easier than 4).

I’m not a huge fan of Batman/girl, but in a way I get it. I’ve always called it the BLNR, but once it became available with 2 bracelets, it kind of made sense.

Love them or hate them, you know what watch the nickname refers. As for the reference numbers, most of us would have to look them up to correctly recite. Automobiles nicknames appear as model name badging. Only service departments are concerned with chassis numbers.

One of the few I actually like. Kind of a paradox cause it’s a bright and vibrant watch. Love it actually….. much more than a lot of other names people toss around
