Storing automatic watch

I would like to purchase one of the boxes that keeps one's automatic timepieces properly wound, but at what point (if you do not plan on wearing it) do you take an auto out and let it sit?

I can see keeping the watches wound if you alternate very frequently, but you wouldn't want to store an auto in one, would you? Watches are mechanical, and like all mechanical things they wear out.

So what's the cutoff time(that you will not wear it) where you take out the watch and let it sit?

Thanks!

Store them the same way Rolex AD's store them in their safes. Stick 'em in and wind them when needed.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

There's no hard and fast rule. Its not like you're going to either store it or keep it winding for 20 years.

I own two winders. Normally I pick a watch and wear it all week, then put it on a winder and wear a different one. Or maybe swap back and forth between two. My point is that if you have 5 watches you don't need 5 winders. I just mix 'em up a few at a time.
