Mostly consider my watches as tools. I depend on them to record time threw out the day. Also refer to my watch for the date.
But occasionally will wear one to match a occasion. So some will pull double duty as jewelry.

Bought a couple to celebrate business milestones. Those have a bit more sentimental value. Bought a couple on a whim because I liked how they looked. Those are just a watch.

It defines my self-worth and character… LOL
Interesting topic. They are both jewelries and tools to me. They serve as a reminder of how blessed I am. |

I think of it as a tough watch with history that looks great, so I guess it's primarily a watch sprinkled with a little bit of jewelry-ness, since I could just be wearing a G-Shock.

If I’m being honest, no luxury watch is a “tool” for me. I’m not a diver, spelunker, mountaineer, explorer, mercenary, special ops, 007, etc…just a normal person. For me a Rolex is a luxury that acts as a nice adornment. Although I may not like thinking of it as “jewelry” that’s closer to what it is (nor does it take away from a Rolex’s robustness or capability).
My G-Shock is a true tool and much better at telling time than any Rolex. Like ‘em both but they serve different roles in this hobby for me. |

It's a beautiful watch usually used to mark milestones in one's life I believe. You really don't need a Rolex from a functional perspective (G-Shocks are the ultimate beater watches imho), but once you get the Rolex bug it just becomes an irrational emotional purchase.

My Luminox and other beaters are tool watches to tell time and date independent of my cell phone. My Rolex is a celebration of where I’m at in life and a reward to myself for the hard work it took to get to this station in life. In that way it’s jewelry, but I also have a strong appreciation for engineering and craftsmanship as well as horology so it checks those boxes for me at the same time. Can’t wait to add more to the collection!

Like most luxury goods, it’s mostly about how it feels to wear one. Bonus is that it’s a robust time keeper and good watch

My 16610 means a huge amount to me. It's part of the family. It's in virtually all of the photos of me with the kids, from birth to now. I properly love that watch.
Plus, it's awesome. |

It is more than just a watch to me. It signifies many years of hard work and achieving something I have wanted since I was a child. Fundamentally, I guess you could say it is a watch, but it is also so much more.
