Clasp help
Steve M was kind enough to give me a "shortie" clasp at the GTG in Orlando so that my SD won't lay so lopsided on my wrist. Problem is, I can't figure out how to get it on. I feel like a may be missing a part, since the only way I know how to attach the clasp is through the wetsuit extension...

You've completely broken it. Time for a Rado.

There should be a link already attached to the clasp, if not you will need a watchmaker to attach a pin through one side of the clasp to a link! I hope that makes sense!

Ok, take the link with the notch and attach it to the bracelet on the right side of your photo.
Then attach the short extension link to the notched link. You have now used your 2 screws. Using the springbar in your photo, attach the extended extension link to the clasp in one of the 4 micro-adjustment holes that are on the bottom half of the clasp as you are looking at the coronet on the clasp. Fold the extension link back into the clasp and wear. |

Will the extension fit in the shorter GMT clasp?

My clasp has a fixed link that can not be removed unless you cut the pin. The pin I am talking about goes through the perma link and is rounded on both sides... That's the one you need on your new clasp. Sorry I could not help more but I am away from my desk and typing this from my iphone.

When you see it you will understand. I'm too lazy to go get my camera and snap a picture for you... sorry. BTW you could remove a permanent link on the 6 o'clock side for a better fit. Best, A |

Oh, I see what you did. I always wanted the shortie for my old Sub since it is thinner. Seems sacrilegious on a SD, though.
I thought you meant the Short dive extension, versus the Long one you get in the kit for thick wetsuits. |

Yes. The same link is used on all oyster bracelets that do not have the divers extension. It is NOT part of the clasp as a replacement part, but rather a part of the bracelet at the 12 o'clock side.
Should be able to get one as a replacement. Still don't have a camera... I'll try later. Best, A |
