Quick story - in the mid 90s I was a cadet at THE Military Academy, as in the one on the Hudson River. We had a small, cadet only PX there called the "Cadet Store". I can remember a Sub was about $2K in 1994 and I can remember thinking "$2 grand for a watch, that is nuts!" Ha, if I only knew then what I know now!
Took me over 25 years but I finally got that Sub.
Also, for what it's worth, Annapolis is a hell of a town. Has Highland Falls beat by a mile.
Still though, Beat Navy!

I cannot recall the Mid-Store ever selling Rolex, though I am a wee bit younger (USNA '06), so maybe they had them there in the 80's-90's? However, they did have a lot of watches with the Academy crest on them, and Bremont actually came out with this a few years back:

Still not my cup of tea, and the closest I've gotten to anything related to the military is my Ball with Navy wings on it. It was a Christmas gift from my wife and has my name on the back. Rarely worn, but deeply meaningful to me.

The Mid-store had subs in the first half of the 90s. I remember wishing I had $2k. Sounds like they were similarly priced at West Point at the same time.

Annapolis and the surrounding areas SUCK when it comes to watch shopping…. shame because it has some very nice areas. Annapolis mall is a joke, even Nordstroms left. Maryland residents are forced to make the drive to Tysons Mall (VA) for all thing luxury.

Yeah, word on the street is that the entire mall may close in the not-distant future to make way for new residential development. I think the era of the mall is ending in America generally. And it is surprising that a town with such affluence (not that it doesn’t have its rougher edges too) doesn’t have more upscale retail.

That said, “SUCKS” might overstate the case, at least in my opinion. It sucks for Rolex, no doubt. But it’s a solid town for Omega, Grand Seiko, Breitling, Tag, etc. And it’s within 35ish minutes (depending on traffic) of a couple ADs for Rolex, Patek, etc. When I consider how long it would take me to get to an AD when I lived in LA—even though it was technically “in my town,” the drive from Annapolis to DC doesn’t seem too egregious.

It’s too bad that L&B lost their Rolex status, for sure.

What did you have? I had the crab cake sandwich lol. We sat inside and didn't realize everybody would be dressed up for tea time.

I remember when Liljenquist & Beckstead had their store on the Costal Highway in Ocean City, Md. Very nice little store. It’s gone now but I could see that. The only real crowd they had was the summer crowd.

Not very many choices left on Delmarva.
