Stepping into enemy territory

Had to drive 2 hours to SF for work related activities yesterday afternoon, so decided to do something with it and took my son to his first baseball game after a quick stop at the Sutro Baths. He couldn't believe all the Giants fans (he's still learning the concept of home / away teams), and he was cracking up as people came over and said "you're rooting for the wrong team, son!".

Best thing about it? Dodgers C Austin Barnes throwing him a ball after the bullpen session...doesn't get any better than that!

That's a nice park . . . . . . . . . . even if there are usually Giants fans there.

Very cool your son came away with a ball

That’s fantastic Jesse! I am a pretty big Dodgers fan (I follow every game and the stats, but don’t watch as many as I’d like this year) and would love to go to a game one day, if I get to the USA.

Thanks Matt! My family are huge Dodgers fans, with my Dad and brothers on a texting thread every game. I played SS in high school and it was my favorite sport, but stopped watching and felt the game was getting too slow for me.

Now that I have the two boys and I've joined an adult baseball (not softball!) league, the love has come back with a fervor - even if I'm actually more of a Mariners fan at heart.

Good luck on getting out here and watching a game! Though, I'd recommend watching the Dodgers play at Petco or here in SF...Dodger Stadium is terrible.

Thanks Jesse. Hope you enjoy all the baseball. I don’t mind the Mariners. Nice to see them on a run lately, and for Kelenic to get another chance too.

I’m shocked the stands look like 30-40% of capacity.

But that was a great day for sure - and to get a ball from the BP…well that’s killer. Get the lucite box and seal it up as “1st captured ball”

Beautiful park.....haven't gotten to see it person, yet.

The Dodgers' Gavin Lux and his parents used to actually live a couple blocks away from where we live....

Glad you guys had a great time in SF , but I have to disagree with your comment on Dodger Stadium being terrible. I have been to many baseball parks and I wouldn’t trade Dodger Stadium for any of them . Blue Heaven .

Great pictures and a great memory for both of you for sure! Somehow when I read your title before opening the thread, I thought you went to an exclusive smart watch store.

I'm spoiled - I'm used to places like Safeco Park in Seattle (where I grew up) and walking to Petco Park while living in downtown San Diego. Even the Kingdome was awesome for me.

My Dad and brothers would probably agree with you though...they bleed Dodger Blue.

I concur. Nothing better than a baseball game at Dodger Stadium!
Lived in the City of the Angels for 32 years……now in the San Francisco Bay Area & go to see the Dodgers in the city, nice park, but nothing beats Chavez Ravine.

Fellas, when I do make it over, I will definitely be heading to Dodger Stadium as a priority! But also keen to go to other ballparks.

JP is correct. Dodger Stadium stinks. Catch the Dodgers in San Diego or SF. Both great parks and fun cities.

Appreciate the recommendations! I will still have to go to Dodger Stadium though, I love that team.
