AP15550ST for 116500

Hi fellow forum members

Hypothetical question.

Same has been posted in the AP section. Posting it also in the Rolex one to get a proper feeling of both crowd.

If one was to have a 15550ST light silver dial 50th anniversary and contemplating the idea of trading for a 116500 white dial plus cash to me ?

Let me know what you think.

If it were a white dial or black dial I’d take the cash. If not, white daytonas are not readily available but they aren’t rare either. Keep the blue 15550st esp if it’s ice blue. Unless you were never going to wear it.

The 15550ST is the silver/white dial

I’d never trade that 50th - you can get a panda Daytona later at retail. But you won’t be able to get another 50th at retail - and ruin your relationship with

I would never. Keep the anniversary 15550. Buy a Daytona at retail in the future.

Depends on how much cash and if you need the cash. Ignoring that, I would want the RO 50th.

The 50th is super special piece. The silver dial so timeless. I would not do it.
Also, you are risking to damage your relationship with AP.

I'd do it.

When it comes to RO I much prefer 5402/14802/15202. Also don't like the 50th anniversary rotor and am not a fan of anniversary editions in general.

I would do it. RO is more rare than Daytona white for sure but demand is way bigger for a Daytona SS white too. Go to your AD and try to get a Daytona SS white.;-)

In my view, the 15550st is overpriced. In general, for me, an RO is too much jewelry and not enough watch, AP offers too little for the price called for, I would rather prefer Patek at this price point.

I think OP is talking about 15550ST (37mm) not 15500ST (41mm).

Both 116500LN white dial and 15550ST are gorgeous and very hard to get. It would be better to keep RO and add Daytona to it.

Are you insane? Why would you ever trade an AP RO for a Rolex of any variety? LOL

Leagues apart...

If you connect with 15550 more then yes.

For me, no thanks.

My friends have rose gold 50th anniversary and the platinum 16202. Getting a 15550 in white will not help me keep up with the joneses. If it ain’t blue and it’s my only AP. It’s gone.

I actually daily my daytona. I commute to work and i don’t want any unwanted attention from the blingyness of the RO. But i do wear out the RO here and there when the situation calls for it. Just gotta be more cautious in nyc these days.
