116600 condition

Hey all, would appreciate a quick opinion on the condition of this 116600. Has been lightly valeted and polished in the past.

The bottom left lug is ever so slightly soft but the rest of the lugs look ok. Under certain lightning the lugs can appear normal..: Do you reckon a trip to a laser welder might sharpen that lug? I personally think it’s an issue with the transition from brushed to polished surface on that lug.

Thank you!

Thanks all. Just felt that the bottom left lug was somewhat soft and blunt.

The other thing annoying me is the polished helium escape valve. They must’ve polished it during the refinish as it was meant to be matte/ brushed!

I think it looks fine I wouldn't pay the extra money to get it fixed when it's already beautiful.

Do you own this or are looking to purchase this? If looking to buy, find one that looks better in your eyes. I wouldn’t start adding metal just to recut. But could likely be improved without laser welding. That would likely look better.

Like others have said, that slight softness occurs with you polish these modern watches, especially the GMT and Sub cases. Some jobs are worse than others.

Laser welding WOULD NOT do the job. Lazer welding does not correct that.

Rolliworks was working on casting or adding to the entire midcase and then replacing /cutting with a machine, but that's reserved for very badley damaged watches -- yours is not one of them.

Enjoy the watch.

Thank you all. I’ve only recently received the watch. I will use it as a daily and once it gets to the point of needing a service I’ll get them to lightly refinish the brushed surfaces. Hopefully that will sharpen things up.

Are you sure about that? My wife’s 16600 has full HEV, but my 126660’s was shiny.

I’m fairly sure it’s meant to have a dull one. Not sure why Rolex do a variant of the HEV though.

Only the Deepsea has a polished HEV. 16600 and 116600 should be matt (titanium I believe)

OP - I'm never one to be overly obsessed about any kind of refinishing but compare the case side, HEV cutout and lug edges on the example you've pictured with this unworn example.

I'd be passing on that on and looking for a better example. Its actually quite poorly done.

that's bad polish job.
you shouldn't have beveling on the maxi-case style

How does the thickness of the 116600 compare to that of a sub?

Maybe it’s the pictures in this thread, but it looks significantly thicker.

Thanks

I was looking for this info on the weekend. If the HEV should not be polished I am surprised I see so many 16600's that are.

It’s 3mm thicker but wears alot better on my 6 inch wrists as the lug to lug is shorter I think.

I think they polish it by accident during the refinishing process…

Complete and utter nonsense if you looked and read the thread you could see in the original posters picture the lugs are not bevelled.

If it bothers you shop around.
Had a batman that had a dent on the side of the case opposite to the crown.
Huuge discount because of it. Shaved some material off( my country they dont weld on watches) and enjoyed the watch. A friend that knew its history( with the dent a year later puechased it from me and still has it. That was in 2018.
You couldnt tell it had material shaved off unless you weighed it.

Its the same watch under different lighting its the light shine and not a bevel, and poster clearly stated it not bevelled.
