Any ADs still selling to out of country clients?
With the recent swing in the market, anyone having any luck with purchasing Datejusts or any Rolex for that matter while on vacation/overseas? Wonder what type of experiences or even luck some of our forum members have been having while trying to purchase at an AD other than their local one. Have heard a line from a few ADs in the US that Rolex has implemented a “system” to only sell to local clients, even less desirable models such as DJs.

I’m American, but live in Vietnam. I recently contacted an AD in Singapore to sign up. I was told no because demand was too high. Then again, another AD in Singapore seemingly allowed it. Who knows. Communication was all done over What’s App.

It’s AD dependent.
Some allow foreign buyers, some don’t. |

It’s AD dependent, I’ve been out on list in various countries but have never gotten the call. Before 2020 I have bought various Rolex watches at ADs overseas. Other brand ADs don’t care.

Your best bets are airport ADs. Not a great chance but better than downtown, and at least you won't be wasting your time going out of your way.

I think we’ve seen a few vacation incomings recently, there was one in Greece and one in Amsterdam if I recall correctly.

Once upon a time Rolex dealers in cities with lots of tourism were probably the highest volume. That has changed drastically in the last 4-5 years as much higher demand leaned ADs to taking care of their local repeat customers first. I doubt any of them are suffering though, just a different clientele to sell to.
I remember chatting with an SA in Wempe NYC not that many years ago and him telling me he would try to source pretty much anything I wanted if it wasn’t in stock. Just a couple weeks ago in Vegas I had SAs in Tourneau and their Rolex Boutique asking me what I might want and offering to take my info down. Their caveat was that you would have to come back in person to pick it up. |

I visited the AD in Tivat, Montenegro last month. While they were incredibly nice, they said they had nothing for sale. I did see someone completing a purchase (sorry, didn’t want to stare so I’m not sure what reference) that appeared to be from Germany from the documents I saw on the counter.

Greece were very against selling to me (uk), and two ADs in amsterdam said they wouldn’t because I was English. With the tax and currency they think people just buy to flip. I was lucky at the airport though and walked away with a YM42 in yellow gold.

In the UK, they won’t even entertain adding you to the list if you’re not local. Had this at WOS and Preston’s. I went into an AD the other week for a chat and they mentioned this. I’m already on a list for my 2nd Rolex but went in for a chat whilst in another city.
