The sun can fade the dial (particularly black dials) but I've not heard of it discoloring white gold

I’m pretty sure if you throw a gold watch into the sun it’ll turn to plasma. Sun wins.

I apply SPF 50 to my Rawlecks each morning before I leave the house. Can't be too careful out there.

White gold vs the sun

Metals are mostly unaffected by UV. The availability of free electrons absorb photon energy without undergoing energy transitions or bond dissociation. https://uvsolutionsmag.com/articles/...tary-overview/

But a diamond in a patch of sunlight will start to lose atoms. https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...s-in-sunlight/

So if you wear this in Miami, beware…

I imagine the sunscreen would have a great effect on the white gold than the sun!
And then the sun have a greater effect on the dial/lume than the white gold.

This is a question to be asked before purchasing, not after. Enjoy your watch.

You need to put sunscreen on it. Otherwise it will turn to yellow gold after 1 day and to rose gold after 2 days.

If you made it safe to wear with some plastic protectors, then yes.

Also please be careful, as I heard from a well known alchemist, that in this case the gold could revert to lead.

Well...actually the colours that factual fade quickest under the sun are (in ranked order):

- Red (quickest)
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Violet
- Black

The reason is physics: Wave length and energy absorption for the listed colours.
