I have a SS Daytona that's running a little slow (4secs per day). I thinking about getting it regulated so I called a recommended Watch Repair company here in NYC and told the gentelman my problem. After 2 minutes of discussion about my watch running slow he immediately says to bring it in and he will de-magnitize it. Is this a normal process/suggestion/recommendation of a legit watch maker without seeing and diagnosing the watch in person? I want to make sure before I take my baby to get fixed.

Any thoughts or other Watch Repair (NYC) recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

First, at 4 secs a day you're lucky and I wouldn't mess with it at all., this is within COSC spec. Second, your watch isn't magnetized so it doesn't need to be de-magnetized. If it's 4 HOURS off then maybe.

That's what I thought too, but reading these threads can make one sort of a...you know what I mean. I'll remain happy and not take my watch in for servicing. Thanks to everyone.

I would not mess with it at this time. I have just lately found that my Rolex and Omega watches seem to keep better time while I am wearing them instead of them stting in the safe. My Rolex Sea Dweller gains more time off and my Omgea speedmaster loses more. Has anyone else found this to be true?

Rest it dial up at night and it might improve a bit. Magnetized? No way.

Mine is gaining 1 ~ 2 sec/day, so I get it regulated

every night by leaving it crown up for it to lost a few seconds. For your case, maybe you can try leaving it over the night with dial-up to gain a few seconds.

I agree with Wildwing. If you rest it flat with the dial up, many movements will gain a few seconds during the night/week. Many times you can actually regulate them yourself by how you leave it at night.

Yes. Both my automatics run better on the wrist. My vintage cocktail watch doesn't have a seconds hand and I don't wear it enough to keep track.

I leave my watch crown up every night but it doesn't seem to help. It still loses time. I'm not sure what the issue is. By the way, how long does one have for warranty servicing: 1 or 2 years?

Two years from date of warranty card filled out. I highly doubt they would be motivated to regulate a watch 4 sec. out.

Warranty is 2 years.......... If it were mine and I lived in NYC, I would take it to the NYC Rolex Service Center..... I would not be happy with a watch that ran 4 seconds slow each day, at least not a Daytona.........They should regulate it free of charge..
