26715OR or 25960OR / 26022OR - AP NY
Really looking to jump into a 26715OR / 26315OR, or if I can find a decent full set 25960OR or 26022OR. Over the years, I've made all my purchases through grays and surprisingly never bought anything from an AD. I guess it now works to my disadvantage given the state of the industry. I keep saying it will improve but how long can one wait?
Being in NYC is a problem with all of the competition, I know. I sent an email requesting an appointment to which they replied that I am welcome to walk in any time with no set appointment needed. I walked into the AP store on 57th 3 weeks ago for the first time ever and met an SA. I explained what I'm looking for and why, that I've been collecting for years, I've been closely following the brand since '07, rarely if ever sell etc. The SA seemed nice but for some reason, I'm not hopeful he'll ever contact me. Do you think I have a better shot with Material Good on Wooster St? What has your experiences been? Please share. |

As a side note, I also really want a 16202OR (also unobtanium). SS watches don't interest me and I need to keep it below 40mm because wrist size and overall appearance.

Your post is a but weird. A bunch of chronos you've listed are no longer in production, so the boutique won't be able to help you on these... In addition looking for a 16202OR (while not impossible) is a tall ask without history. Not impossible, as others received them but very unlikely.
I suggest for a potential one and done or for discontinued models, Material Good may be a good option, as is 47th street. With the current market it may be slightly less painful than 6 months ago. You've got your purchase history going for you, so I assume the SA can / did understand your longer interest but it may take some time to get a call back, esp since you've asked for really in demand models Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Don't forget however, buying Grey counts as history as you can log your ownership on your AP account

I’d say follow up with the boutique SA via email, then check in/stop by every few months. It might take awhile but if you stay in occasional contact, you’ll hopefully get a watch eventually.
I’ve had a great experience at the NYC Boutique; went there in Dec. 2019 as a new-to-the-brand walk-in. The SA I met was nice, had a good conversation about what I wanted as my first AP (15500 grey dial), and he brought me out some various models to look at (no 15500’s at the time, however). After the pandemic settled in, I checked in a couple times in 2020, and received the call for my grey dial 15500 in Feb. ‘21. This year I got the call for 2 more: one in March, another in May. In my experience AP is really trying to expand the customer base, so I would say it’s well worth sticking with the NYC Boutique SA, and just being patient. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

i didn't like the vibe of material good the one time i was there, felt a bit snobby and i wasn't too surprised given where it's located and the kind of store it is. i don't think you'd have better luck there than at the boutique
maybe it was just an isolated incident. nyc is indeed a struggle |

I bought my 26022 (later converted to a 25960) from Material Good in NYC. I live in the Midwest and dealing with a local AD wasn’t in the cards (the closest one lost their status). At the time I thought the price from Material Good was a little on the high side but the watch was in pristine condition and I simply wanted the watch. The transaction was smooth. What I was advised before the purchase was great advice for me and my situation at the time. Nothing was pressured in any way. Of course with hindsight I should have bought every AP and Patek they had at the time but you know what they say about hindsight.
So based on my experience alone, I’d definitely buy from them again if I wanted a watch they were selling. I’ve been on some waiting lists for years and it simply isn’t going to happen. Fortunately I’m very happy with my current collection and have the luxury of buying only when I want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I’ve had good experiences with Material Good; I purchased my 15400 through them earlier this year (pre-owned but they had it sent to APSC for a full service and it came back looking new). They didn’t try to talk me into a watch I didn’t want, and they were patient and accommodating throughout the process. I’m hoping that now since I have spend history with them, I might be able to turn that into an allocation next year (since they are an AD and get pieces from AP). We will see!

Thanks everyone for their responses. Still kind of stuck in what I should do here. Guess I don't really have much of a choice other than to just wait it out. Hopefully the tides are turning though for the better.

There is zero chance that you’ll get a 16202OR from AP without prior purchases. Grey market is pretty good right now so you can always do that.

Semi serious, I think if you walk in wearing a tourb from another brand, target buying a gemset piece that will lose several six figures, then that's the fast track to get on the gravy train. Otherwise why not just continue to gray game as it's getting better on that side of the track?
I would probably lean away from the MG side unless you plan to spend heavily on an annual basis. |

I agree and was told that by my SA at the height of the market when EVERYTHING was over retail. I wonder now what they would say if I buy a heavily discounted CODE or ROO grey, would they still see it as a good thing or would it be frowned upon?
