Yes - prolly 98% of FT readers had little or no knowledge before reading it either.

I believe that’s the reason it ran - to better illuminate the present situation and forewarn unsuspecting buyers.

Wish it had an upbeat finalé - one where he explains the trusted TRF boutiques.

Anyone know that author?

Maybe turn him on to “the rest of the story” including links to the boutiques.

I could have written this article. And I am not a journalist in any way. It's nothing that anyone here doesn't already know. In fact. I think he just repeats some of the things he read on watch forums and blogs.

The smartest part of the entire article for me was when he mentioned gen z not being interested in Rolex. Likely not an original thought but i agree.

Fairly unoriginal writing, a regurgitation of multiple articles or forum posts as others mentioned. Wait until we get into the 3 year cycle of buyers selling back to ADs with the CPO program. People are going to lose it. They have essentially created a leasing system for watches with a new buyer having no chance of getting anything but pre owned. Smart for business, bad for people wanting Rolex that don’t have an existing buying history.
