Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe question...

Thoughts on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Annual Calendar 5071:

Prefer the latter. Dive watch with a annual calendar to me is a bit out of sorts.

Regular Bathyscaphe, I dislike the adjustment pushers on the case side of the Calendar.
I like the new titanium watches, but dislike the x-71 style bracelet option, the original bracelet was far more unique and striking.

Hearing that the 5071 is not a popular model, more of a very nice under the radar watch due to its rather high price point and that the annual calendar feature is attached to cal 1150 instead of the 1315.

Still think it is quite stunning, with the date wheel in a more appealing location as well.

I like the Ti with vertical brushing better. I like my standard Bathyscaphe a lot!!! I actually like the sunray dial better than the vertical stripes. Also I prefer the sailcloth strap in comparison to the shown leather strap.

Of those two you’ve mentioned, for me it would be the Ti one with no annual calendar - but on a Ti bracelet as I think it looks awesome.

Either one you pick is a winner though.

The annual calendar adds a bit of elegance to a dive watch IMO. A bit more "every day" as well. Love them both.

If you're a dive watch purist, you would choose the plain Bathyscaphe....it looks more serious of a sports watch than having an annual calendar complication

I like the Ti one, but own the black ceramic version. Great watches!

I would go the regular model. I have my steel one on today. Put a bracelet on it.

The Bathyscaphe is in interesting piece in that it looks kind of boring in pictures but is stellar in the metal. The sunburst effect on the dial, the way light catches the indices, the beautiful Liquid Metal bezel, all add together to make one hell of a beautiful, stealthy watch. I’m fortunate enough to own the rarest modern Blancpain, the version made from ceramised titanium (only 50 made), so the case color’s grey matte look also adds an incredible contrast to the other items I mentioned. Add to it one of my all time favorite movements and you end up with an incredible watch, assuming you can pull off 43mm. That’s my only issue with it. Wish it was 40mm (and no date of course!).

Ti23 without hesitation.

For complications, I prefer the Villeret range (but that's personal).
I find that a diver must meet other criteria.

The vertical brushed dial is quite varied and lively, to match the black hands/indexes and bezel it's not bad to put a black sailcloth instead of the original one.
The color of the titanium is also darker, and super resistant to scratches (more than 7 months of wearing on my side, in rotation, still like new without any attention) and of course very light.
The apotheosis is 1315, visible, with bevelling and finishing by hands.
