Are there waitlists at ADs for PM daytonas?

Hello,

I am wanting to buy a 116508 PN dial YG daytona
Is there currently a waitlist?
Or am I better off just buying at grey above retail or the older 116528 model?

thanks

Most PM Daytonas are relatively close to retail at this point. They are also relatively difficult to get from ADs just because of quantity they come in.

This? If so, I believe it’s at least $10k over retail in the open market. I don’t see many pop up either.

I can attest, its not easy to get from an AD.

By the way, the older model 116528 is nearly identical and if you find a nice example at a decent savings over the 508, I would jump on it. Not a big diff between the 528 and 508.

I am leaning towards the older model atm because i prefer the champagne dial option with the black subdials in the 116528 which doesn't seem to be an option for the new 508.

However, the new 508 does seem to have a larger case and nicer clasp?

So, there is a champagne dial with black subdials in the current 508, and the 528 version is a wildy different dial. The champagne in the 528 version is not as good as the current one. IMO, of course.

We seem to be at an interesting point where quite a few PM pieces are at or somewhat above retail in the gray market, but are still quite difficult to get from ADs.

I've been waiting for a 116619LN for a little bit now...and I'd prefer to buy from my AD.... but my patience lessens by the day, especially watching secondary prices continue to fall.

This post may not directly help w your question... but sharing that I'm in a similar boat (and I imagine others are)!

Most definitely wait lists and for some specific references very long ones!

The issue isn't that there's such a long waitlist (sans a handful of PM refs) as the specific configuration you want may never come to your AD.

All you can do is ask.

Yes, there are still waitlists for PM Daytonas. In talking to my AD about this it seems a matter of a lack of supply. Before they sat in the cases for quite a while, mostly because of their steep price tag and everyone wanted the cheaper SS versions. This is what started the craze for the SS model many years back. Now the AD only gets a few of the PM models a year.

Specifically, my local guy said that they only get one of each PM variant a year for the Meteorite Dial. I'm fairly sure that the same thing applies to all the other PM versions and with the demand still be high, it's a matter of supply and demand. It will just take time.

I have always had my heart on the Daytona 116500ln but the waiting list is very discouraging.

I imagine there’s a wait list for most models. At an AD yesterday, SA guided me through the case, all exhibition models, but for two DateJusts.

He said they came in from Rolex and there wasn’t any name they had who said they’d take a TT DJ, black dial, diamond indices, so in to the case they go.

What did your AD say when you asked them to sell you the watch? Or the AD across town or the next city over - what did they say?

Of course there are. Otherwise you'd be able to walk into any AD and just buy one from inventory. They just don't have them in general.

I’ve been trying to get an Everose on bracelet Meteorite for 2+ years and have now given up as I fully expect all the Precious metal models to be replaced at Watches and Wonders for the Daytona 60th Anniversary this year.

This is a big part of getting the one you want.

Maybe a short wait list, maybe not. But certainly a wait. They don't turn up frequently. You could miss by a mile or score a direct hit depending on which day of the year you walk in.

They're quite difficult to come by, even though premiums have come down considerably. This model trades for about a 10k premium. As others have mentioned, ADs may only receive one per year, if at all.

This is very true my dealer said he is lucky if he can get a Daytona in any pm for example in chocolate face once a year or once in 2 years !
