Hello Gentlemen. I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first post. I've been on the list for a year and a half for a SD43 at my local AD. I've also been watching the Grey market at the same time. And as of last week, I was able to purchase a 2022 unworn SD43 on Chrono from what seems like a reputable company/seller for $14975...which is only 500 above list + tax from the AD. They have 1200+ 5 star reviews. As ligit as they seem, I'd still like to have the watch authenticated and have ther serial compared to rolexes stolen list with in the 2 week dipute/return period. My AD said they can service and appraise the watch and authenticate it at the same time for $200. For those in the same boat, is this sufficient? Any feedback is appreciated!

You want to buy a brand new unworn watch from 2022 (i presume full set with card etc) from a reputable gray dealer and send it off to your AD to service and authenticate it?

And all that for just $200? Or is the $200 only for "authentication"?

I would not do any of that. If anything, I would take it to RSC and ask them to check if it needs service because you think time-keeping is inaccurate; they will open it, inspect it, and tell you if it's genuine and provide you with a service estimate. Or tell you your perception is wrong and time-keeping is accurate. You may need to pay a small fee or nothing at all.

Which dealer? With 1,200+ reviews someone will name them if pics aren't watermarked etc.
For $200 the dealer isn't going to be servicing it (and a 2022 shouldn't need one). But, they'll probably open it up, call Rolex to check serial, and give you an appraisal for the $200.

With that kind of feedback I wouldn't be too worried, but to each their own.

I am way too fussy with my watches to have some dealer getting their hands on it to pry or pull it apart and put it back together for $200 to tell me it's real. I would put my name down at a couple ADs if that is an option in your area and wait it out especially as the gray market is that close to retail. The other option is buy the seller and as others have said, take it to Dallas RSC for a service estimate.

I would ask what exactly is involved in their authentication process and what insurance do they provide if they damage the watch in the process.

As a side note, on your next purchase, going through chrono24 adds 6% to your cost. Contact the seller directly if they are indeed as trustworthy as you think they are. Better yet join Moda facebook group and buy it at typically $1k+ below the lowest market price.

The Chrono seller is WatchLimit. 5-stars. 1100+ reviews

I'll have to confirm with Korman's (Austin Authorized Dealer) to confirm, but I understood it to mean...the $200 is for the Appraisal which would include authenticating the watch in the process. I don't mind taking it to the RSC in Dallas, but was worried about the 2 week window. Maybe they'll be able to answer me then and there.

On a side note, the Korman said they also service all rolexes after 1990. They have a "certified rolex technician" full time on staff. That us why I was just going to take it there, but don't know if there's a difference between them and the RSC in Dallas.
