Yes, it is really difficult to see it.
I saw it once at the AD and another time with a big lens.

Good job finding it. Now try it on a Platy Yacht-Master...
On my GMT II (black dial) i can see it all the time. The Yacht-Master drove me crazy...

When you finally spotted the LEC on the crystal did you have the light coming in from the 12 o'clock?? I haven't been able to see it on my GMT Master IIc or my wifes Yacht Master yet.

It's easy to see once you know what you are looking for.

I had tried to find it with a loupe. No luck. Other day I'm parked at a restaurant getting ready to have lunch. I'm on my phone bored out of my mind with the conversation. So with nothing to do, I'm admiring my left wrist (the watch, not the hair!) and I am tilting it all over the place. BOOM, I see it at a sharp angle. The brighter the sun, the easier it is to find. And true, once you find it, it's pretty easy in the future.

The second link which has you use a laser pointer works the easiest in my opinion. Move the laser pointer around and you can have the etching itself glow bright red when you find the right spot. Only takes seconds. Nice call.

Never finding it, I assumed it wasn't there.
Then one day the "Lint on the dial" thread got me examining the watch with a 60 lume Surefire flashlight.
The etching clearly pops out to the neked eye with light reflecting across the crystal.
