16610 Blue Submariner in SS?

Was surfing the net and saw several 16610s with different blue variants (ie., blue dial & bezel, black dial/blue bezel, etc..) but in SS.

I thought the use of blue on subs came in either 2 tones or in gold....are these fakes, custom, frankenstein or did Rolex offer blue 5 digit subs in SS on certain years?

Any all SS with any parts in blue is a Frankenstein or fake.

5 digits SS Sub came either with black bezel (16610LN) or with green bezel insert (16610LV). Blue dial and or blue bezel on a 16610 is aftermarket. They are though black inserts that faded over time to blue

I believe there was a limited run of blue dial/blue bezel SS models specifically for the Japanese market years ago but these are incredibly rare. I think what you’ve found are probably modded/custom jobs.

Where did you find them?

Refinished dials and aftermarket bezels. I've seen other colors, too. There seems to be an influx of these pieces lately and not just on C24.

To be fair they do state that it’s a refinished dial but it’s way too much money for an aftermarket setup.

Correct. There was a very very limited run of blue sunburst dial and blue bezel SS Submariner, I think it was 1680 model and it had a nipple dial. It may have been an exclusive for a Sultan or a similar kind of deal.

I saw it on this forum back about 15yrs ago.

You may find if you search hard enough.

Padi, tools or one of the old timers will remember.
