The new WG model with black dial and silver subdials may be hard to get for a while.

For everyday wear, I would go with the wg - silver ghost. For a special watch for a collection, I would pick the YG - PN dial.

Thanks. The Ghost is a lovely watch but I'm slightly put off by the sheer number available for sale. I won't be selling quickly but you never know when one feels like they want to trade for something they come across that they like even more....so value retention is a factor.

So that leaves
Inverse Ghost because it's brand new combination.
PN
Pikachu.

Thanks
I'll have a good look at pictures today, need to let the AD know asap

Yes, that seems likely. Thanks

In other words if were buying grey I'd have a choice of 20 Ghosts but only say 5 Pikachus.

Going by that same theory the dial combo which will be rarest (for the next few years)will be the only completely new combo I can see which is WG inverse Ghost.

Reasonable hypothesis?

The everose with black dial and subdust sundial is also new. I was waiting for a meteorite before, but this is the one I’m eyeing now

Are you sure that's a new one? Isn't this the same?

It’s not the same. Take a look at the subdial.

This new one is the inverse to the sundust dial and black subdials. Like the new WG one is for the “ghost”

Sorry, but I'm confused. There are two RG models if you exclude diamonds.

1) Bright black main dial and sundust sub dials

2) Sundust main dial and bright black sub dials.

Which one are you saying is new?

Appreciate your time, thanks.

That's basically the same as this.

https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/rol...id24435536.htm

I get that on the new model the outer lip of the subdial is different, but apart from that it's the same. I may be wrong, but to me it's not different enough for it to be considered a completely new combination.
Happy to be corrected though!

Visually I think it makes a huge difference. For dark dials, I was never a fan of the subdial with the outer ring and contrasting color inside the outring. It makes it difficult to read. This really only works on lighter color dials, but a pink/sundust Daytona dial is too feminine.

Rolex did also have this version previously https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/rol...id21039925.htm

So similar to the one you mentioned that is new, but with diamonds. Again I’ll say though I see it as much different with the new subdial design, it’s much better the way it is now.

All in all, I don’t think there will be a clear “secondary market” winner with Rolex’s new PM Daytonas. With meteorite gone, they’re all going to be around the same.

It's just the nickname many give to this model because of the red outer markers.

Personally, I like the 116518 better. It has the red chrono hand, contrasting sub-dial hands, and step down concentric subdials. but that's getting too deep into it.

Best dial on the OF!!! Not even close either

Thanks, point taken, sometimes small details can make all the difference. As I've never owned a Daytona some times these subtle changes are lost on me.

I would say though, the new black main dial with steel subs is definitely more different than the one in your link even disregarding the diamonds.
On the new one the subdials are all silver. In the one in your link the sub dials are black with just a silver lip

Thanks, appreciate your input

It’s not. In a flat picture they look similar but in reality they are quite different - the old is a black lacquer dial with Everose subdials while new is matte black with matte Sundust subdials. Differences in hue and finish make for a completely different look IMO - the old one is quite stunning and I was a bit turned off with the change despite the fresher dial layout on the new.
