I have something quite funny to say, but I shall not since; how in the hell can we get a word in edgewise with you two yapping up all the band width. |

Ok, I installed AIM and SKYPE. AIM seems to show online on TRF and SKYPE offline? Do you have to do anything special?

Ah, but mods have unlimited hijacks. It's a perk of the job.

None. Texting and IM implies that I am going to instantly answer someone. Email on my blackberry is as instant as I want to get. I will respond at my convenience.
I'm not rejecting technology. I'm an IT Director and I have been working in the field since before most people heard of the internet. I just feel that things have gone off the deep end. I also reject facebook, myspace, blogging and twitter. Now the average schlep has a laptop, webcam, 15 Megabits of bandwidth, too much time and a misguided sense of self-importance. The sad thing is that you can google the words INTERNET, HUMAN, or EARTH, and you will reach some jerk's blog or facebook profile with pictures from his latest kayaking trip or anime' convention. When did everyone get this important and interesting? Clue: They didn't. The really scary thing is that if you are a parent of a teenager, and you are not a fairly high-level networking professional who has completely locked down your home network, your child has probably exposed themselves on the internet. The good news is so has everyone else. |
