So, anyone ever been told to "go buy from someone else you r too high maintenance" while inquiring about a watch from a respected seller with good feedback?

I can understand it. I do lots of business over the phone. It is how I make my money, and there are times when the sale is not worth the hassle. If the phone calls just keep coming and the questions never stop, I do ask people to go elsewhere.

There comes a point for me where they time invested is not worth the profit I am getting.

I have no idea if that is your situation but I can understand it.

I too have told customers to go elsewhere, I have found over the years that too many questions and phone calls from a potential customer is one that usually turns out bad.

If the person just takes too much of my time I politely say so and find out the "real reservations" and go point blank honest and tell em, "thats how it is" and that either shuts em down or they go "all in" !

Guess maybe I was little naive, and didn't think about the many tire kickers out there, and can understand a seller's position like that. But this response was a first for me, and it hit home. I have sold a few watches and responded to many emails, including endless questions, low ballers, etc, but I was always polite, because you never who is going to buy the watch. Maybe I haven't done the volume some of these guys must do. Anyway, on to other sellers, as there are many EXPIIs out there on the market.

Fair enough question.

They were about bracelet stretch, scratches, crystal condition, service history, box / paper /accessory condition, etc.

Albeit they should have been in one email. But as a relatively new watch enthusiast, the questions kept coming over the course of a few hours, and not all at once.

I also provided this seller my references of both bought and sold watch transactions to provide evidence that I was a serious legitimate buyer.

I am relatively new to the forum and noticed this by some sellers. To me, I am purchasing a product in which I cannot examine in person and I am basing the seller's reputation on others. Therefore, I am going to have a lot of questions. Oh well. . . if they do not want my business, so be it. Timepieces are a dime a dozen and I will find another seller that will earn my business/money.

These things happen. I wouldn't take it personally. I had one guy ask me at least 50 times if I was going to scam him when selling a $1,200 DateJust. I can understand being nervous and all, but I kept it together and it all worked out.

It's just too many emails to be answering.

When I sold watches I would get flooded with over 20 emails a day with questions.

What I do is answer all of them in order that they were received. Then move on from there. It's very hard to keep track of, sometimes it would just have to be a lottery system when picking who you are selling it to.

You sent him 6 emails and he probably negotiated with 5 others and they were probably on the brink of completion.

I figure if the seller does not want to answer your questions, then it is probably for the best and I would not want to buy from that person. You don't want to take chances buying something that you don't want.

I can understand sellers getting frustrated by someone asking a ton of questions but they should not mind some questions. I think it works both ways, the buyer should not constantly bombard the seller with questions in separate emails and the seller should take the time to answer questions from serious buyers.

Lucky seller if he's got so many biting at the hook that he can tell some of 'em to get lost, either directly as in your case or by attitude. But a seller can never count the number of customers he loses. When they eventually dry up he'll start bitching and blaming the market. Funny that...
