Joel Embiid, NBA MVP, gets Rolex

If you follow the NBA, you’ll know today Joel Embid from the 76Ers was named as this seasons most by player. His team mate, and former MVP, James Harden gifted Joel with an engraved Rolex President.

Pretty cool.

And well deserved. Best big man in the NBA who never played basketball in his life until coming to the USA. Harden gifted him a Rose Gold DD40, like he can't afford it. LOL. Kudos to both.

Go Sixers!

He wasn't. It is too small. He needs to add a link or 2. Said his 1st watch and had no idea what the date window was since it wasn't set. Asked why does it say the 23rd if it's not the 23rd. Love it

I have been a Philly fan since 1970. I have seen all the great centers. Joel does things on the court that I have not seen before. He may finally be on a team that could actually compete for a title. Having said that, I don't know who is better Joel or Joker. NIkola is so graceful. Beautiful to watch.

He should also get him the actual watch part instead of just a bracelet.

He could not get it over his massive hand! After they realized it would not fit, somebody offered to put it back in the box and he said no and carried it around for the next 30 miniutes. He was sincerely appreciative!

Jokic was robbed. Should've been 3 MVPs in a row. Go Denver!

You see, Embiid wanted a Rolex, but the local AD gave him the runaround about needing to build relationships, his past purchase history, mystical waiting list, and even quizzed him on some weird made-up model names (apparently he thought Batgirl was an official spokesperson for Rolex). Harden wasn't gonna take all this BS and went grey and got that DD40 for Embiid.

This is total hypothetical and not confirmed by anyone of course. It could be fake news for all I know.

No matter what model Rolex comes out with, the Day-Date on President is always the watch that says "you've made it."

This is for you too.

Nikola Jokic C - DEN Joel Embiid C - PHI
Turnovers 3.6 3.2
Steals 1.4 1.1
Blocks 0.8 1.5
Points 26.2 30.4

When healthy Embiid one on one Joel would kill him.

i have no issue with embiid winning mvp but there is a legit argument for both of them. you conveniently left out the fact that Jokic avgs 1 more rebound than embiid and 6 more assists and say numbers don't lie lol. btw 6 more assists per game and the same amount of turnovers paints a different picture and favors Jokic, and 6 assists is 12-18 more points he helps score versus that of embiid and makes up for the 4ppg difference. but again, you must be a numbers guy only when you cherry pick

Splitting hairs, I see. Give the man a little credit, for someone that didn't play any basketball in his life until he came to the US and missed the first 2 years due to a leg injury, he has done a lot of things others will never do or can do for a big guy.

no one is discrediting him, just saying if you wanna use numbers you can't conveniently leave out two of the most important ones that happen to significantly favor Jokic. they're both amazing and deserve at least one MVP

also not like Jokic was some prodigy, he was a fat kid from serbia who barely made the nba lol

Fair enough. Like you said, both deserved at least one MVP. Both had a hard road making it the NBA. Kudos to both of them.

Hakeem Olajuwon did that and up until now is easily the more decorated player. Hakeem along with Shaq is recognized as a top 2 C since Kareem.

I like Embiid but he can’t stay healthy and I’m not confident he ever wins a ring in Philly.

Health is a big concern with him because he plays so aggressively for such a big man. I think Rivers is the wrong coach for the Sixers. He's been to multiple playoffs with multiple teams and only won one ring. He changes the line up to much and sometimes seems like the team is not ready to play. Very inconsistent. IMO.
