Quark store in Ginza gets robbed

This happened just recently, the Quark store in Ginza got robbed in a smash ' n grab. I've been to this place a few times when I was living in Tokyo and it has not only new but also sought after vintage Rolex pieces - although I tend to have a preference for the ones in Nakano instead.

Quark also sells online via Rakuten at the very least - unsure about Chrono24.

It's quite unusual to see this kind of thing happening in Japan.

They caught the perpetrators so fast. All 4 aged between 16 and 19.

My wife was telling me that apparently when it first occurred, pedestrians on the streets thought it was for a film/movie.

Probably the most respectful and tidy robbery I’ve seen.

Police: So sorry, I must arrest you. So sorry

the world economy is getting worse after covid, and that's why there's much higher chance that buying from grey dealers is not safe, many stolen watches out there.

Quite surprising that this happened in Japan of all places. Generally a safe country when it comes to these type of things.

Some people just can’t handle being put on the wait list.

It's why box and papers are very important on modern watches.

People looking, passing by, recording with their phones. No one calling the police?

Would have been pretty funny if someone had simply stuck an umbrella in the store's door handles and locked the burglars in
At least no one was hurt. Things might have turned out differently in many other countries.

The level of security in Japan is very vulnerable.
There are only doormen, not security guards.
But then again, there are hardly any Rolexes in authorized dealer, so maybe there is no need for security guards lol.

If this happened in San Francisco, the perps would have been given a free uber ride out of the city.

Rest assured, the criminals will be dealt with and the authorities will make an example of them. Japan will never become a total disaster, like many cities in USA. Criminals are not celebrated.

True. I used to go to SF so often, now I never go because the vibe has completely changed since 2017/2018 or so.
