Not full PM but I wear my TT blue Sub at the office. I work in finance. I would wear a full YG. Nobody cares.

Spot on mate, couldn't agree more. If you behave like a twat then people will begrudge you everything. If you treat everyone with respect and show some humility you don't get that reaction no matter which watch you wear or car you drive etc

I wear Seiko or Apple Watch to work. The nicer ones I only wear during my own time or when meeting with people or on special occasions.

The watch you wear if acting that way doesn’t matter.

Work in a big tech company and it’s a super casual workplace. Literally everyone wears jeans, sneakers, and hoodies exclusively with their Apple Watch. I’ve been recently wearing a newly purchased platinum dd40 and thus far nobody has noticed, out loud or silently far as I can tell. I have a rg JLC master compressor on gold bracelet and when I tried that at work it definitely got attention, it’s a big ass gold chunker after all. The spoken attention at least was universally positive but it made me a bit uncomfortable. Oddly, coworkers commonly drive cars in the 100-150k ballpark but this doesn’t seem to raise eyebrows at all. It’s the culture I guess

I wear my 116515 almost everyday to the office. I’m a physician, own the building and practice. It’s not as flashy as my yellow gold Daytona was but I’ve never had a comment about it other than from a few select watch lovers themselves. I don’t think it’s a huge deal but I could see that its contextual. Some markets or professions may be different.

I wear what I want generally. No one really knows what these things cost or cares.

That’s an interesting question. I wear mine whenever I go back to the East Coast (Corporate) and actually a couple of my fellow co-workers turned out to be WISes; we have had nice discussions about it. Then again, my 126619 is WHITE Gold, so not as obvious a PM piece as yellow gold. Honestly, I think it’s case by case basis. The bottom line: If you are not comfortable wearing it, or believe you might be “flaunting” to those less fortunate, then don’t wear it. I think you are being considerate if that is the case.

I would.

I’ve come to the realization that no one cares. If you work with people that care, that sounds like a shitty workplace.

When I worked, I wore what I wanted. Never put a watch in anyone's face but life is too short to worry about things like this.

I used to work for an organisation like that. Happily not for long and thankfully only once in my career.

Nowadays I work for myself and anyone who works for me can wear any watch they like.

My clients know exactly what they are paying me and what they are getting for it.

I've worn Rolexes since 1986. Only one who ever noticed was in June 2005 on my way to settle my Grandmother's estate. One of the lawyers in the elevator complimented my watch.

Truth is, no one notices or cares about watches at work.

I’m of the belief everyone should wear what they want, whenever they want. However, they must accept the consequences that sometimes cannot be avoided.

It helps in life to have a little tact. Doesn’t really help you if what you wear or drive creates envy between coworkers or family, etc.

I recently sat down with my lawyer at his very nice office, he had a Seiko SKX with blue bezel on. I thought “sweet watch, and probably a smart move”.

Nothing wrong or negative about being sensitive to others and planning accordingly.

However, if I wear a watch to work it sure as hell isn’t coming off my wrist until I get home lol. Taking it off before meetings with others would leave the wrist naked which would feel weird. And definitely not taking two watches to work just to switch between them.

I take my watch off and put it in my pocket all the time. Most my watches are 50-100k.. I hide watches all the time. I’m currently missing a wg olive day date I honestly can’t find!
I’m going to my moms for birthday/ Mother’s Day celebrations today with close family/ couple close friends. I just got a meteorite Daytona I really want to wear but will instead be going over with no watch as I don’t want comments from my sisters/ boyfriends about it honestly. “Oh must be nice!”
Oh well. Life is good.

Umm, how can anyone "ever notice it" if it's in a lock drawer during a meeting?

If you don’t feel comfortable having anyone see it, and you need to lock it away before any meeting, I would recommend leaving it at home. What you’re describing, to me anyway, sounds miserable

I have a WG DD36 that I wear in the office occasionally and SS Rolexes most other days.

I help run a family business that's made up of mostly tech employees. While not true of all or even most, I've found that a good number of our younger employees seem to have a mentality that it's us vs. them between employees and management. They all receive top tier salaries and benefits for the industry, but displays of affluence by management/ownership I think makes them feel they're in some way being exploited. I don't really worry about it (still wear my nice watches), but I know that perspective is there.

I own my practice so I wear my day date anytime I want.
But I’ve heard an ignorant remark by a client who said “that’s where all our money is going” after another client complimented the watch. So I try to not wear it into meetings unless I have a jacket on which will cover it most of the time.

This is just my opinion, coming from someone who is technically self employed / seen as a boss.
In theory this all sounds very correct. But in practicality, i think no one ever notices.
