Worked at an AD in Cincinnati
On the one hand, it sounds like your fun meter at that job was set on 0, and I am sure telling people “no” all day long has to be exhausting. If that was your experience, that sucks and sorry to hear it.
On the other, putting your former employer on blast in this manner based on anecdotes etc is not something I would have advised doing. Still, the non-existence of an alleged “list” at your former employer is consistent with what friends at a number of ADs have described to me, anyways. No surprise to hear the process is not as democratic and accessible as some might like. The list is a myth. |

OMG, this is the BEST THING I have read about modern Rolex ever, OP, THANK YOU!
The last couple of lines really make an impactful point, thank you for sharing this and officially getting any kernel of thought out of my brain about getting a modern Rolex. Beyond enlightening post and thank you again for shedding light on the situation. |

I will not be surprised if you , Sir, have a law work experience. However, there is definite bitterness in the original post which I understand and forgive. Alas, it has become part of the Rolex “experience” for most of us nowadays. |

Thank you for sharing but you didn’t say anything new. I think the personal attacks against OP are unwarranted.

Finally someone said it. However no news, besides the auto-generated mails
If the “my AD said” threads are fine and interesting, then this should be celebrated |

No, It has to be true. I read it on the internet! Actually I have a close friend that works at a Rolex AD. Unfortunately OP's statement rings very close to what I have been told and see. But we all know that, Yet remain hopeful anyway.

The legal term for the conduct described (that is to say, making you buy "other things" in order to buy a Rolex) is a "Tying Arrangement". And that may be a violation of antitrust laws and a crime that is prosecutable by the Department of Justice. The fact that this type of behavior by ADs is discussed openly here on this forum, and elsewhere, has nothing to do with whether or not it is a crime. A crime has certain elements to it which have to be met, and the enquiry into whether or not a crime had occurred can be complicated, but generally speaking, this type of behavior that the OP is describing, to me, merits further investigation if it is substantiated. Now, this is a complicated area of the law, which changes all the time, but basically a Tying Arrangement is where a Seller has large market power in a region (which I think a Rolex AD typically does have) and then the AD Seller conditions the sale of one product (the Rolex desired) on the buyer's agreement to purchase a second product (like jewelry, which is the "tied" product), and if that happens, that may constitute an illegal tying arrangement. Just Google these terms, and you can also read the FTC guidance below: https://www.ftc.gov/advice-guidance/...titrust%20laws. If, say, there was a scenario, where a Rolex AD was stupid enough to tell a Customer that he had to buy other items at the shop before the AD would procure a desired watch, and that Customer got really peeved off at the AD, and that Customer had the financial means and patience to go after the AD, he could really hassle the AD bigly... In a way, I do wish someone would go after an AD who abuses customers in this way, just to stop this stupid practice of ADs making Customers buy other things just to buy a watch in the regular course of business. |

Yes Turkeys can absolutely fly. Domestic Turkeys will depend on the breed. They roost in trees in the wild.
