Delayed Incoming : Rolex 14060M

Hey all, So.. I purchased my first Rolex about 6 months ago, a 2 line 14060M.

I have been unwell and off work for a few days and reflecting.. since purchasing the watch I have been working my butt off every day of the week whether it is “work” or doing all my house domestic duties. My wife works more hours than I do but I also steer the ship at home. We have also taken guardianship of a teenager in December, getting her life back on track, driving lessons, putting her into a good school, oh and the extra laundry and cooking haha.. considering we have never had kids this has taken up a huge amount of my life.. point is that my life has been insanely busy. I forgot to mention I have a Labrador that demands lots of attention!

I took work off this week whilst my health has given up but I am back on the mend slowly. This has given me time in bed to research history and watch movies classic movies that I’ve never got around to. The whole time off I have been wearing my Submariner, which I wouldn’t say I haven’t bonded with in the past 6 months, I just haven’t had time to admire and reflect on the achievement that I actually purchased this thing!

7 years ago I had $20 and no house and let’s say.. years of a habit that nearly killed me twice. I finally (after 8 horrible years) got my life on track and after securing a home, we purchased a nice car last year and still had money to comfortably purchase my Rolex. This watch makes me extremely proud of my achievements both career wise but as a person in the last 7 years.

Onto the watch.. I had to make a decision on the right Sub for me as I have to consider that it might be my one and done Rolex. Mind you, my goal for my 40th is an Explorer 1 and a GMT root beer for my 50th which I think is a realistic goal.
The 14060M was the perfect choice for me. I’m a vintage buff / historian type who loves the middle ground of vintage looks and a modern engine. I love my watch.

I know this is an older thread, but congratulations on your new watch.

The Rolex Submariner is Theee watch IMO.

I have the same “2 Liner”, and if I paired my collection down to owning just 1 watch … it would be my Rolex Black Submariner.

Nice story about your 14060. I love mine on a rubber B.
Better story about getting your life on track after 8 years.
Been there and done that, too.

Thanks for sharing! Love your perspective on life and your ability to push forward - and on the right track.

Excellent choice in watch; a 2-liner 14060 would be the one watch I own if I could only have one.

This is what watch enthusiasm is about. There is nothing more gratifying than having the watch you know you love and deserve on your wrist.

Congrats. What a difference in 7 years!

Getting yourself back from the brink to the point of helping others in that time deserves a reward and that’s a good choice. Enjoy it!

Congratulations on your remarkable turnaround in life due to your own hard work and perseverance, as well as the support of your wife and family I’m sure. The Sub must have an even more profound meaning for you as it certainly can help serve as a reminder of where you’ve been and how far you’ve come. Wear it in good health!
