Looks like a day date from the 60s-70s most properly with the Caliber 751, 24 jewel movement Adjusted in five Positions, cushion shape case.

Padi
For a green frog just after an operation, you sure move quick. Thanks and I hope you are well on the road to recovery.

Next question
My Dad has given the watch to my son. I reckon he (my son) can wait til he's 18 at least before he gets hold of a decent timepiece. I assume this watch has some value?? (thats the question btw) If it is lots, maybe my lad will have to wait until he 40!!

Thanks again Padi

Thanks Atomic and Padi
I'll hold the watch until he's 18.
BTW I've been wearing the watch all day and I'm amazed at how comfortable the strap is. It's like chain male, fits like a glove.

Yes a great bracelet sometimes called the grains of rice bracelet.

Starting to recover from my op but progress is not as fast as I would like it.Still they told me would take 4 - 6 weeks so early days yet.

Peter they say your age has lots to do with healing times, seems the older you get the longer it takes to heal and the older you get the younger your brain thinks you are or at least mine gets me into trouble by pulling muscles and spraining joints and making my eyes hurt because my brain is telling my old eyes that they can see that pretty lass's a$$ if you look close enough!

damn I hate getting old for these reasons.... not that I'm wiser... naw, if I was wiser I would know not to look! HeHeHe

Miner,

That's a great looking watch very reminiscent of the early '70s when that model was very popular. Still the old classic.

Peter is of course correct this is a day date cal 751 constellation dating from around 1967 to early 1970's. I think £400 is rtaher optomistic for this watch, these arent as collectible as the arlier pie pans so i would say you can pick up a nice exmaple off the bay for around $450 - $500 USD. This bracelet isnt generally called the grain of rice bracelet as far as i am aware..although i may be wrong...the name was more for this style on this watch:

It is a nice piece and movements are bomb proof and something that your son would be proud to own

I had one like that and it was purchased in 1972. Mine was SS and it ran really well. Definitely reminds me of the styles at that time. Seems like the estimate of value is a little high, but I am not an expert on that point.

Would agree Mamas the price I quoted is the expected retail shop price.
