That went parsimoniously low @ £11,770. Anyone here buy it !?

I like it for that price (about $16.3k USD with tax for me) even if the dial doesn't turn out to be totally glossy and the bracelet is fake, but unfortunately I forgot about the auction.

I would have bid 13500 but I tapped out. Sold for 14888 usd.

It’s a great deal. The more I looked at the 7206 it seems right to me. The 58 ends as well. It’s all about the legitimacy of that dial.

I was following but didn’t have the gut to bid, but the more I looked the more I liked, hope for the buyer everything’s ok

I think someone got a very nice watch, but it begs the question, did they get a steal or is this fair market these days? Granted new owner is gambling on ebay vs trusted dealer, but if the watch presents the same or better than photos, than this should have a very happy new owner (not me).

Damn. This 1966 gilt sub looks like a real specimen. Am I correct that it’s a gem?

Not true. ‘66 was still gilt era and you can find examples with gilt hands and matte since close to the transition. I would expect gilt hands on most SN and ok to see matte hands on later gilt as they get closer to the 1.5xxxx SN.

Funny! I want that squabble like a trip to the dentist.

I would wager that the watch was polished. If I was just looking at the bracelet itself maybe I'd be unsure, but considering the aging/damage on the rest of the watch (i.e., snapped bezel insert) the proverbial "story" of the watch condition just doesn't make sense.

eBay is in bed with escrow.com now, so any watch that sells for more than 10k MUST go through escrow.com and the buyer has a 7 day no questions asked return while money is actually frozen. There is literally NO RISK for any ebay bidder to buy an expensive watch anymore. Well, there is a risk that the seller is a dirtbag and opens up a return that differs from sale and ties up the money and the watch, but apart from a sleezy seller, the buyer will be protected.

I think the market is very soft for vintage right now. Even nice pieces just aren't selling. It's a great time for buyers, bad for sellers. If you believe the vintage market is going to come back strong, now is the time to be buying.

I just picked up an A serial AP 5402 for a price too good to be true. If the market keeps falling I paid too much but if it turns around I am into it for a good number..
