Another would you trade post…

Anyway;

Would you trade a 126610 plus around 8500 Euros for a Daytona 2009? The Daytona is in excellent condition from a dealer I trust 100%, but no box/papers.

Would you?

Bad bad deal.
Naked Daytona 2009 doesn’t worth that much.

Would never buy a naked Rolex. Too many out there with box and papers to bother.

No Daytona is a watch I would never own. To each their own

No, bad deal for you financially. If your dealer came up with this I’m not sure I’d trust him 100%…

depends on what you have in your collection right now.....if only Rolex, I would keep the Submariner....but to add to a collection, yes

we need more info here. So this is a watch only 116520 from 2009, black or white dial?

I'm not sure why people are instantly killing this deal.

A dealer will not buy a 126610 for more than 12k. There are some listed at retail for close to that.

I can't see a 116520 for less than $20-22k.

trading for a 126610 plus 8500Euros isn't insane.

That said, here is a watch only from 2009 for 19k. If you want to save the most money, I'd sell the 126610 and buy the 116520.

Here's another complete set however this one is older and his the old style clasp...

I’d add the Daytona first and see how you like it.

A Submariner Date and a Daytona would be a good duo

If the 116520 is unpolished and mint I would do that trade all day!

I wouldn’t. Seller has overpriced the 116520. That’s the downside of trading unfortunately. They Jack up the price of the watch you want making it appear you’re getting good value. I’d hold out. Prices dropping on the secondary market.

Another would you trade post…

Not sure of values but in theory I’d much rather wear a Daytona than a Sub.

I’m not dismissing this trade.

Also, I have noticed in many TRF thread about a trade, people often reply with wildly unrealistic ideas of a watches worth in a trade. They usually try and apply a high retail sale value as it’s trade value, which is insanity.

Thank you for all your input. I didn’t expect this deal to be that bad. I will have to consider this a bit more, this is clear. Since some of you asked - the Daytona is a black dial without box and papers 2009.

As to the trade itself, it would depend on whether you wanted a Daytona or sub more.

As to the values you've described, I think you're parting with too much to get what you're getting. Just my two cents.

in terms of pure value to you it doesnt make sense.

But from the dealer perspective, he is probably offering you around 10k euros for submariner. (he/she would sell for around 12 to 13k). So around 19k Euros for naked daytona (assuming it is in white dial and great condition) isnt a bad deal.

I always look at deal in these terms.

If I needed to suddenly liquidate what I buying/trading, would I break even, lose or gain.

I think the deal breaker here is the no box/no papers because most people are going to see that as a negative.
