Icon17 new Day Date Dial

Maybe some of you can give some feedback on this new dial . Love it or hate it . I am trying to decide on a dial and at first I think it is really cool but will it get old quick since it is not traditional. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It's a nice dial but I wouldn't put it on a DD.

I would love it IF the numbers were silver-toned (platinum) instead of blue. I do love the second one!

Are you looking at a Platinum ? Because the dial in your first picture only comes in PT.
Btw, dxn's picture is a DD, not a DDII, also PT and my absolute grail watch.

I love it but when you hand it to your kids in 20 years time will it look a bit dated ie don't think it will be a classic

Yes its a platinum DAy Date 36mil . I Tried on the Day Date 2 platinum at the AD and it was to heavy for me and a little to pricey anyway. I can get a platinum day date about a year old for about the same price as a white gold DD brand new . So i am weighing my options thats all. Its hard to chose when you love them all but I am sure people on this board understand that ! I plan on keeping this watch for a long time so I dont want to rush .

Oh oh , if you can get a Pt for the price of gold (keep in mind the rather big discounts on gold) and said watch is like new than go for it.
Is it the one dxn posted ? Man , i'm jealous already

Maybe depending on the color.

Not for me. I like the numericals in the dial, but not the style of the dial (if that makes sense lol).

I think this dial has the potential to go out of fashion very quickly and on a watch of that expense I would want something more timeless. That is not to say I do not like it, I do but it is something I would have on a fashion watch not on one of the caliber of the DD!

I like the Ice Blue color on the DD. The plain design is a better investment I think.

I'm not fond of it. I absolutely love the arabic numbers, but those wave like thingies are a no go.

No its the one with the wave dial from my original post . A good deal but I dont know if im sold on that dial . Im thinking it would go out of style and I might regret it just like a lot of folks so far think. You are right about some good discounts on new gold DD . Must be the recession and I dont see things getting much better any time soon so its probably a good time to get a deal on a watch .

Yea I agree with you now. I am glad I asked you all before I rushed into anything ,Thank You. Sometimes you see the great deal you can get over how happy you would be with the watch long term and then get buyers remorse 3 month later . At least that is what I am trying to stop doing . But maybe thats just me

I'm a stick dial fan myself but I like it over roman numerals!

If it's a great deal, pick it up. You can always have the dial changed when you send it in for service in a few years. By that time, you'll have decided it's a keeper, or know it's time to move on to something different.

Gonna buck the trend on this one. I've seen that glacier blue wave dial in person, and its absolutely gorgeous against the platinum.

Definitely spices up one of Rolex's hyper-classic models, one which incidentally, is often described as an "old man's watch" (rightly or not). It's quite subtle spicing by the way, and the shimmering blue hands are amazing.

If I could get my hands on a Day-Date in plat, the glacier wave would probably be my choice.
