2 watches better than 1? I think so.

Hello from a new owner. Wanted to add to the many other positive threads that make the watch passion/hobby even more fun.

Instead of getting myself a single watch (I wanted to splurge for the Daytona), I ended up with one for my wife and one for myself. It has been really fun to share the experience of mechanical watches with my wife. This is her first non-Apple/garmin/fashion(junk)/etc watch. I think she understands the interest of mine now. We have worn them nearly everyday since I bought them a little over a month ago. Thinking that blue dial Datejust 41 might just need to be on my wrist for a few weeks…if I can get it off her wrist. Lol. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and enjoying the hobby with others.

I’d post a picture, but unless I have 10 posts I’m told
I can’t! Lol.

Cheers.

Hi Jason welcome to the forum!

I think that’s awesome you guys both got watches; can’t wait for you to get the post count up so we can see them! My wife isn’t into watches, so on the one hand I’m a bit jealous yours is, on the other hand it leaves more funds for my collection so there’s a silver lining I guess lol.

Best thing I ever did was by my non-watch wearing wife a nice watch, it completely transformed her view of my hobby. Good decision, congrats.

For years at anniversaries and her birthday, I explored what her interest might be in a Rolex. Even though I have been wearing one of my Rolexes for 20+ yrs already, she would say, "no, I really don;t need a Rolex". Well, last month I just bought her one, and it rarely leaves her wrist now (she loves it). That said, she doesn't have the full interest I do, but she gets it.

Congrats!

You can attach an image to your posts.

Here are instructions for attaching a .jpg image to your post. It must be less than 293 kiloBytes in size, so if it's larger than that you'll have to resize it using one of the free online apps on the net like https://www.resize2mail.com/. Also, you must include some text in the post; a short sentence will do.

1. Click on "Post Reply" at the bottom of the last post in the thread.

2. In the "Additional Options" window, click on "Manage Attachments."

3. In the window that opens, click the top "Choose File" and then enter the file name of the .jpg file on your hard drive you want to embed in your post. Click "Upload." If your file is too large you will be told, and you'll have to reduce the file size below 293 kB.

4. Close that window, click "Preview Post" to preview your post, and if it looks OK click "Submit Reply."

Here's an example of an attached image (it's 254 kB).

Welcome! So what is the second watch? Is it a Sub, or another color Datejust, or a GMT? Perhaps an Explorer? We have to know….

I'm guessing she will go back to smart watches and her Rolex will collect dust like my wife's does. My wife also wore her 31mm DJ every day for the first few months and now she won't touch it. Congrats to both of you.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I opted for the blue dial Datejust 41 as my second watch. It's been a joy to share the experience of mechanical watches with my wife. We've been wearing them almost every day since getting them. Looking forward to engaging with the community here!

Welcome!

Recently, I was able to get my wife a DJ31. She has worn it a few times, but is mostly scared of it. So, it's not worn much at all.

Glad you have someone to share the hobby with!
