I adore my YG 116518LN on OF. The right balance in so many regards for me.

I love the OF. I own the Everose YM and it’s the most versatile piece in my collection. It allows me to comfortably wear PM as I don’t feel comfortable wearing full PM pieces outside of perhaps white gold or platinum…and those become quite heavy. Turned down the previous generation platinum Daytona due to the heft…my next piece will be another OF once they include the mini glidelock on the Daytonas…

Oysterflex was made for the 226658. They just didn’t realize until 2022.

On PM models I prefer the bracelet. I have owned a YM42 on the OF and it was very nice and comfortable but for the money, I prefer a bracelet.

Haha! Again, full PM counter parts are 5-10k more expensive on the grey too.

The white gold version is fantastic. Not to convinced with the yellow gold version.

One of my favorite looks is gold with black rubber.
YM42 oysterflex and Daytona oysterflex look incredible. Comfort and ease of wearing are huge advantages of course.

But certain watches don’t look quite right to me. Not sure why, but the SkyDweller on oysterflex just seems off to me. IMO the oysterflex more suits the sportier style watches. Which makes sense now that I think about it…

Love the OF, have had the Everose YM for about a year now and just got the WG Sky-D, super comfortable.

Also given that Oysterflex models won't accept a Rolex bracelet....I just don't get why Rolex makes it so difficult to have fun with a rubber strap....which is what I usually associate with rubber watch straps.....an opportunity to have fun with bracelets and straps on a very expensive watch....and to have some flexibility in water or summer days.

I'd rather buy a RubberB strap and get the standard bracelet version.

I tried on a watch on yesterday with a rubber strap, it had a buckle and pin, I’m not sure if that’s the correct description, anyway me having quite small wrists the strap sat on my wrist horribly, especially the way the buckle sat, it caused a huge gap between my wrist and the buckle.

The Daytona OF sits really well on my wrist, managed to find the perfect sizing, I think the titanium core must give body, shape and longevity the bracelet.

I also really like the way Rolex have made different size options for each Side, I’m guessing they’ve calculated all the different size options that are achieved on a metal bracelet and transferred those size differences to the OF with the different size options that can be bought.

I think it’s a much better system than cutting a strap on a watch.

Also I find having a clasp attached to rubber bracelet is very classy and functional.

I’m not sure if my reply is correct for your post or is relative.

Not worth sacrificing a PM bracelet for rubber in my opinion, but if I had PM watches [with bracelets] then I would likely look at them entirely differently and see them as a very cool way to flex a PM Rolex.

I would love to see some testing on this titanium core. Much as I love the OF, I primarily love it for the aesthetic: black rubber is just gorgeous with YG.

But in this (Italian) video, he cuts an OF in half to see the titanium core. It looks far thinner than I'd have imagined. I thought it would be a couple of millimeters thick: slim enough to flex, but thick enough to support. But it looks more like a fraction of a millimeter, almost like aluminium foil:

And being that thin, I'd guess the rubber supports the overall shape far more than the titanium core. Perhaps the core helps resist longitudinal stretch, is that it?

My only nugget to add is I would only buy OF with the glidelock. Had a ym 40mm rg that fit amazing. The Daytona pre GL couldn’t get just right on my wrist. I have to hold out for the new versions but where the heck are they already!

I don't find it silly. It's a different vibe and comes this way from Rolex. The oysterflex has a titanium insert within the rubber.
I do find it silly buying a Rolex on bracelet and then putting it on a tacky Rubber B or Everest band. To each their own.

Thanks for sharing, interesting to see the core of the OF. I think another really good positive is that if the OF ever needs replacing the bracelet relatively cost effective.

Technically, it's flexible titanium-nickel alloy wrapped with high-density elastomer.

Agree completely.

Rubber looks awesome on my G Shock. Not so much on a gold watch.

You do you, though.

I know many people say for the money you're going to spend on a PM Rolex anyway, it almost seems crazy to have it on a strap when you may as well go full hog with the full PM bracelet as well.

Thoughts...

To answer your question “is it worth it” I think it’s the best rubber bracelet on the market, couple that with the clasp, the fins allow air flow and also do a good job of keeping the watch in place on your wrist alleviating slipping from side to side, it’s sporty, classy, durable, designed have as much adjustments as a steel/gold bracelet.

Go for it! The oyster bracelet, while nice, is a bit overrated. If you have a few bracelets, OF is great in a collection. It is comfortable, sporty and has superior contrast.

Great pic. Hard to capture this, but the picture above is how it looks regularly.

This picture is how the dial generally comes across in pics.

I prefer all my watches on rubber. And I prefer to OF over any type of rubber strap I have ever had.
