My collection and opinions on what to do
I currently have a 124270 36 mm in stainless steel which is my first watch purchase and a very comfortable watch. I also have a 126610LN that I enjoy wearing however I just recently got the 126720VTNR which I wear the most. I am left handed and enjoy wearing the VTNR the most. I have read several threads about this topic and just wanted to get some fellow watch lovers opinions. My initial thought was to sell the 124270 and keep the other 2. But I do love how comfortable the 124270 is to wear.

Give it a minimum 3 months before making an irrevocable decision.

My collection and opinions on what to do
Quote:
I’d heed this advice. You just got the Destro, so spend some time with the trio and then decide. Sounds like you really enjoy the Explorer so don’t sell it just because people say the Sub is a “better” or more substantial watch. I personally would rather have an Explorer and VTNR duo than a VTNR and Sub pair. Don’t rush your decision though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What’s your goal here? Trying to figure out which to cut? Are you trying to justify your next purchase?
I’m sorry I don’t get it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I do feel the watch is meant to wear and I do wear one of them everyday. I don’t like when they sit in the watch winder being unworn. So I was considering cutting one of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You've had all three watches since May, so that is plenty of time to determine how much you are wearing them in a rotation. You seem to be past the point of wearing them for a week at the time. By now, you've set an on the wrist pattern and the VTNR is dominating. Are you looking to collect watches or simply want a watch (or two) to wear?
Quote:
The difference here is that you enjoy wearing this watch as opposed to it simply being comfortable, as with the 124270. You don't appear to be using "comfortable" and "enjoy wearing" to convey the same sentiment, but I could be mistaken. Fun problems to have. All three are fine watches. I'm transitioning out of the collector phase into a person who wears the 4 watches that he owns. This is why I asked above if you intend to collect. I wish you well.

Another variable...
You mentioned "first watch purchase" with the 124270. There is always something special about the first and what it symbolizes which you don't realize until it's gone. My first "luxury watch" was a Seamaster 300m, it took me years to save for it even though it was at the low end of nice watches. As I progressed and was blessed with more financial independence, my collection grew and I graduated to more than entry level pieces, so I sold the 300m. Time passed and I really missed the "watch that started it all". I rebought a slightly different version just last month an it's the only "rebuy" I've ever made. The 124270 is a really special time piece (assuming you like the size) and I would heed the advice others and make absolutely sure before you let it go. |

Very good points. Definitely the VTNR is the watch I wear most currently. I agree although the 124270 is comfortable and my first watch I’m not sure it’s my favorite but definitely different from the VTNR and Sub. I feel maybe having 2 watches in rotation might be a better fit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That is what I read in other threads about your first watch purchase. I do consider if I sell the 124270 I may later regret that decision. Thanks for your reply. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My first watch was an Omega Seamaster and even though I never wear this watch anymore, I cannot resign myself to selling it. It's just special because it was my first luxury watch.
I can't tell you what you should or shouldn't do, but if I were in your shoes and absolutely wanted to downsize the collection, I would sell the Sub and keep the Explorer and the GMT. |

You’ll know which and when you sell when the time comes. Enjoy them for the time being and don’t rush the process

If you would keep all of them, however, do not sell your first watch. It was a milestone—you did research and bought it for a reason.

I appreciate everyone’s reply’s. These reply’s are definitely what I was looking for to consider. I wanted to share a picture of the VTNR I am wearing today.

The newest sub isn’t my favorite sub, but a sub nonetheless.
There’s NFW I would sell the sub. Never got the Ex. thing but if it’s your first watch, sounds like you should keep it. Keep wearing the VTNR until you need to swap it out. You haven’t had these watches long enough to properly evaluate their personal necessity. BTW, the VTNR is a very “loud” watch and although I love it, I couldn’t wear it many places I travel because of its presence. That’s what the Explorer or Omega 300m is for. |

The OP and above replies don’t mention much about the sub. To me that should perhaps be the one to go.
Just my observations. Plus you’d be left with better variety in my opinion too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Before starting the thread I was considering letting the explorer go but there has been several replies about letting the sub go. In my opinion the Sub and VTNR are similar. I do prefer the VTNR since I wear my watch on my right wrist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sell the sub-overlap and keep the 124270 as dress watch.

I'd keep all three. I like variety. Also, they are all different enough from each other that there isn't any redundancy IMO.
Sure you don't wear it now.. But whos to say that isn't going to change some time down the line? |

There is something alluring about a two watch collection. It keeps your day-to-day choices narrow & may help you hone your focus moving forward. I like the VTNR, but can't do the LHD style. Looks strange to me. The VTNR is a polarizing piece, as it has cool colors & doesn't look like anything else. The Exp1 just works with anything. T-shirt, hiking, commuting, nicer dinners... Be real with yourself: Do you need something else beside those two? Can the money saved be put somewhere else (investments) to fund something bigger down the road (Day-Date, Daytona, etc.)?

Be sure to think this through before you sell, so you don't end up regretting it. IMO It's too early for you to want to sell maybe just give it time.
