I’m very much in a minority I know…

So…..

I’m not a fan of coloured bezels (I mean, red, green, blue)

I find the standard Sub boring (yes, understand it’s history, “iconic” & all, but that has never transmitted to me when I’ve tried one on & looked at it on my wrist…)

The Bluesy is aesthetically horrific. Sorry - looks incredibly tacky.

I don’t believe it’s a bad thing NOT to wear your watch all the time - who wants a scruffy looking dress watch?!? Not saying you shouldn’t wear it all the time - just a balanced view that the alternative is perfectly fine too!

The Wimbledon dial is a jumbled mess to look at. I mean it is - no getting away from that.

The YM platinum bezel, & the fluted bezels are the best Rolex bezels

I LOVE the new Air King!

Either the DateJust or Skydweller is the best Rolex model.

TBH, well done Rolex for having a broad range to choose from!!

Let's agree to....

Agree on some, and disagree on others...

I will strongly disagree on the best model. Personally I love the Daytona. I don't have one, but when it comes to looks, utility, durability, comfort, etc I think it's one of the best watches (from any brand).

Some of your comments you took the words right out of my mouth, I'm just too scared to say them!

I like the blue, green and black. Don’t like the bluesy neon dial though.

I think the GMT numbers are too big and I struggle with the bi-color bezel. I think the only Rolex I love is the Submariner. Everything else is nice to have for me.

The GMT’s and sub’s are for me classics especially the older variants

There are no rules in this game. You do what feels right for you.

I'm in love with my Air King (116900).

I’m minority too.
I have Sub but since I got YM40, the sub doesn’t get too much wrist time. The YM40 is just better in almost every aspect.
I also agree on the Wimbledon dial. I personally looked at it and I’m just not into it and don’t understand the hype. It looks dull, dark, especially the dark grey Roman numerals bordered by green giving a very plastic feeling. I went to AD 2 times to just look at it and couldn’t love it.

Fair point re the Daytona & an oversight on my part I definitely like the model too.

As an aside however let’s be honest, the Panda is not the best looking model in the Daytona line up is it. It has a ‘hip’ nickname that possibly fuels its popularity….I’m after a black & gold two tone.

To me, the YM is all wrong, in all configurations and versions.

YMII is an unbridled mess

YM is much better than above, but I always thought the bezel was way too thick and prominenent.

Its the only model in which I cant find one i like.

Obviously no offense to the YM and the people that like them. Its a personal preference.

I am a huge fan of the Rootbeer, and thats a pretty polarizing model, so to each his own.

I'm the complete opposite of you except our view on bluesey. I think that watch is just so cringe. Even though I helped my friend getting one from my AD.

I love colored bezels and Matt dials. I don't like the air king dispite owing a DJ I don't like any DJs DDs SkyDs.

Yatch masters are cool. I just need to find the right one

I agree about the YM. If it had a ceramic bezel in black I would be all over one. The AK - when I look at it I think about the design and blurt ot WTF were you thinking? I don't care for Bi colored bezels myself either. Unless its blue and black and has a jubilee bracelet. I can't help it, Bat girl is one fine looking watch.

Something I dislike (since we're just going for it today) are some of the new nicknames. I don't know why, but I just don't find them intriguing. A nickname should develop over time. "Panda" so so, but I LOVE that's watch. I think it's perfect. As far as best looking in my opinion, perhaps solid gold, Newman (now there's a nickname!) dial, or solid gold black dial. I think the Daytona overall is perfection (and no, I don't own one...sadly)

To each their own. But I feel much differently. Love my Sub, TT GMT GRNR and my Wimbledon. And one of the favorites in my collection is my bluesy. It just pops.

The bicolor GMT bezel inserts (BLRO, BLNR, VTNR, CHNR, GRNR) have a functional purpose. Dislike them if you wish, but owners who use them regularly appreciate the ability to discern day or night in different time zones at a glance. The blue-red bezel introduced in 1954 and often adopted by other manufacturers is iconic.

+1. Was my first Rolex and still love it. The new AK is nice, but I'll keep my 116900.

Yep, a good point & totally get the purposes behind them, which decades ago were probably really useful for some.

I would imagine these days, people would seek readily available alternative solutions in technology instead. Plus I would suggest the percentage of watch wearers who actually need those functions is relatively small overall.

Which brings it back down to aesthetics.

Yeah, not for me either. Swapped a Sub for a YM back when it was considered an upgrade. Every man and his dog was getting a Sub too. Classic but dull.

It's a great time to love horology!

Yeah, the rising costs of watches are painful, but regardless of taste, there is always something for you with so many players in the game.

We all have our "thangs". Mine is no dates and synthetic straps. Subject to change as the wind blows of course.
