When I said subpar, i meant subpar for a 500k Rexhepi watch. Because that is what you are buying. As some other posters pointed out, the finishing seems less fine than his CC watches. Fewer internal angles is immediately obvious. I also do not find the case very refined. If its height is only 12mm, it is slimmer than it looks. I saw a video on instagram that made it look 14mm or thicker. Either way, the esthetics do nothing for me.

Ahh yes, agreed. This LV release seems more Patek-like in that regard of eliminating as many of the more challenging aspects of handcrafted horology as possible. Hopefully we see many high-quality hi-res independent photos to better showcase the handcraftmanship so we can be better able to see / understand why this timepiece is worthy of the $500k asking price.

i love love love RR, BIG TIME! Alas, is does sadden me to say this new release seems a bit too mainstream versus what is deeply loved about RR. Perhaps LV / RR can design something truly sensational for their next release.

There's still time...

Am I understanding this right that it just dings once per 60 seconds while running? Seems like such a silly complication if so. Or does it tell you the elapsed time (3 dings for 3 mins) etc

Chimes every 60 seconds while the chrono is running is what the reviews say. Certainly one of the more silly complications.

Would think RR keeps 1, the Arnaults keep 2, Biver will get 1. 6 left. A few will go to despots. A couple will secretly be shipped to Philipps in the next 18 months for their auctions.

LV translation: This watch isn't really for sale, but we hope you make some psuedo connection to RR by buying our new Tambour

retailing of this watch will be non-existent. the social media watch influencer hype community was brought to montecito but didn't even get to hear the chime.

this hype stuff just makes me love ALS even more. real watches for real collectors that can be worn and enjoyed (despite releasing the odysseus chrono on a 5y roll out schedule)

Mike Shani and Watch Falcon will get theirs. They always do :)

In the event the remaining 8 are not sold, I'm pretty certain JA will underwrite the bill in his personal capacity.

The next collab will be with another independent . It's likely this is the only RR piece, at least for awhile.

Most are spoken for, but a few are reserved for LV clients.

If given opportunity to purchase.. would one do it?

How silly.

The real news here is that RR apparently said this is the last akrivia watch? Is he taking all the products under the RR name? Would make sense to me.

He is a collector with a massive collection, but I think I prefer MS's smaller collection. MS probably has the best collection in the world in my view - small yet desirable.

$500k? I wouldn't have thought this was more than $50k based on first impressions. I would have a lot of Pateks over this.

I like the box, a lot. Also love the 8-watch LV monogram here for more efficient use of space. Now if I had a true 'Trophy Timepiece', the LV box would do quite nicely. Quite nicely indeed

PS: If many pieces already going to LV, RR, etc, isn't this really a side 'buy in' hustle to get an RR timepiece the fast way? In that case, well played. Well played indeed LV.

It is pretty much a given since there is supposed to have five watches in this series. This is an Opus/Max Busser homeage.

Wonder who can be next? Maybe Dufour

A nice write up on:
https://watchesbysjx.com/2023/10/lou...-sonnerie.html

"The watch pictured is one of two prototypes so the finishing, particularly the cleanliness of the movement, is not up to par."

Its just that tinted dial somewhat obscures the movement

I think overall the concept is nice. The semi-translucent dial is also a nice touch. Price wise it is INSANITY. The target customers are obviously not the average joes, but it certainly is no 500k watch.

Regarding the price, this a chronograph Sonnerie, tourbillion, with the chronograph sonnerie being run on a second gear train that has a constant force mechanism.

So, yeah, a grand sonnerie can cost more than this, and this complication is on that level. It's really something special.

I'm not a fan of this watch and I wouldn't buy one if offered, but as I was saying earlier: Let's give it some credit.

The price is a lot. But it's a lot of watch.
