Gotta love the caliber 3135...

My 23 year old "K" series 16600...

Gains about a second a week give or take...

Not sure what more one could ask for...

Congratulations you must have a Rolex watch in 10 million that gains only 1 second a week.

I bought my wife a 1988 DJ and overhauled the movement and am getting similar results. It was probably the first time the watch had ever been serviced. 3135s are superb movements that stand the test of time.

Totally agree, there is something special about that movement. Even just winding it feels right!

Only way to improve on that is to buy a quartz

Solid movement, also like how buttery smooth it is to wind.

Agree it's a great movement but did have a few problems when first launched back in 1988/9.But no matter the movement its only as good what it's been regulated to ,that matches owners wearing habits.

With positional management at night mine can do the same.

The 31 movement was great.

No amplitude problems...

My first Rolex, ‘sorry I parted with it - sigh ….

My most recent purchase (about 3 months ago) of a brand new Deepsea is keeping pretty good time though - only lost about 15 seconds whilst wearing it non-stop.

"With positional management at night mine can do the same".

Can someone elaborate on this above point? I think I remember reading that the position of watch on the night stand affects whether it will run a little faster or slower? So, what are the guidelines?

To quote the old Rolex paperwork -

1. To gain a few seconds, lay the watch flat face-up overnight.

2. To lose a few seconds, lay the watch vertically with the crown downwards overnight.

3. To lose a few more seconds, lay the watch vertically with the crown up.

Amazing movements, those 3135s. This is how it should be.

Agreed on the 3135, makes you wonder why they ever replaced it with the 32xx

Except maybe one that is dead on after a week going on 3 years now and has 70 hrs power reserve like my 126660. My other 3235's gain or loose 3-4 seconds a week.

Much more reliable than the 32 series, I’ve owned many and they average about plus 3 or 4 seconds a day in my experience
