Help! 124060 Sub vs 126600 SD43

Hey TRF. I’ve been enjoying my new 41mm No Date Sub. Just love it and wear it every day. Just really appreciate the look of Subs in general.

I’m also pretty in love with the SD43, tried it on at my local AD.

Does anyone own both? Would adding the SS be too redundant, or do they both get wrist time?

It depends on your collection size. I think they are very similar looking with the SD43 having the date, cyclops, and larger size...they are essentially black dive watches at the end of the day. If your wrist size and comfort level can take the SD43, you might like it more...definitely larger and more top heavy, with a case back that can be uncomfortable depending on your wrist.

If you're also happy with the Sub, perhaps getting something a bit different could be cool, maybe a GMT or Explorer II?

I’ve owned both at the same time for many years (on and off).

Can they co-exist? Absolutely. In fact, I’d say if you want two Rolex divers, they are the perfect pair. To me, the SD43 isn’t a daily wearer, it’s more of a weekend watch. I found it a bit bulky and heavy to wear on a daily basis. The Submariner is the perfect daily wearer.

If you want two divers, I’d say go for it

I see no problem owning both if it suits your fancy. There are no rules for your collection.

I just made the switch from a SD43 which I had for 5 years and it just became hard to wear. Just too thick. I now have the 41 sub date and it is a night and day difference. The SD43 is a great looking watch but just painful to wear for long periods of time

if you have strong and muscular hand, go for the SD43 which has much better wrist presence. go for the smaller and lighter no date sub otherwise.

i have both and wear them both equally. i dont feel that they are redundant as they do wear differently and look different from each other (at least to my eyes)

Sub carries a lot of baggage with me. I won't own one. SD on the other hand? ALLLLL DAY.

I have both and wear both a lot. I love the contrast between the smaller, flatter, and symmetric sub, and the bulkier, cyclops SD43. They may look similar, but are indeed very different watches. Every time I rotate, I re-appreciate the watch to be worn.

Tried it on again today at the AD, and realized that the matte dial just isn’t as nice as the darker sub dial. Maybe will stick with just the sub

I have both models and the Sub is a much better choice for me.
The SD43 is too big (even though I have a big hand).

I own both and enjoy both. I have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist and have no issues with the SD43 for size or wear. I sometimes think the SD43 is the Submariner for people with larger wrist. I have a large collection of watches so nothing gets a lot of wrist time. If I had to choose, today, it would be the SD43.

If money were not an issue I would enjoy adding a sub. For me, I can't justify it. Love my SD43. I don't wear it daily due to my profession, so when I do wear it two or three days a week I love it even on my 6.75 wrist. I would go for a sub date though

The Sea-Dweller is not a Submariner.
It's not one man's sub or a sub for big boys.

It's an over engineered diver that historically took on the Subarminer look.
This watch is hefty and won't be forgotten during the day.
Like many other watches indeed.

I do think a SD43 will make a perfect pair with an Explorer or a Datejust.
With a Sub, it's too similar and you'll end up preferring one over the other.

I always found the ND Sub boring. Perfect, but boring.

I can't speak for the Sea-Dweller. It's functionality and size is just beyond what I require. I think the 124060 is the best all around watch Rolex makes. If I could only ever own one Rolex, that would be it.

I never understood owning pretty much the same watch (only thicker and more resistant) when you could buy a watch that compliments what you already have. That's just me, though.

I could add a Sub41 ND to my SD43.

If I have to pit one against the other though, the SD43 wins for me.

I always thought a Sub and GMT were borderline too close, but I have both anyway. I think a Sub and SD43 are pushing it over the edge.

I love my SD43 and it's sticking around, but I've always had the urge to add a Submariner (aka nodate) for it's clean look and thinner profile.





To me they're very different and in no way redundant ...but then again, I own four Speedmasters, so...

I owned a no date sub few years ago, later sold it and replaced with a SD43, never regretted. the SD43 is so mesmerizing.

I went with the SD43 then a green Submariner. Best of both worlds and unique enough to keep both in the collection.
