Talk to me about Pelagos issues

I have fallen in love with the Pelagos. However, my love has been met with disappointing news that there are a lot of QC issues with it (missing lume, misalignment, bezel hydrolock, etc).

Is this something to actually worry about? I will hopefully have this for well beyond any warranty period and would love for it to hold up.

I have had a Pelagos 42mm titanium (M25600TN-0001) for a year now with no issues. +2 a day everyday. Purchased new from AD. Everything is fine. It was my daily until I got a SD43 for Christmas, so now it gets a week in the winder then back on the wrist. rinse repeat.

I am very pleased with it and plan to keep it well after the warranty expires.

I don’t have a Pelagos but I’ve seen the YouTube videos and threads about the lume falling off. I’m sure most folks haven’t had any problems, but there are enough videos and internet chatter out there to make you wonder.

I have an OG ETA Pelagos purchased new in 2016 and in the first week the bezel fell off. The AD gave me a brand new watch and it’s been flawless ever since.

Early runs of the Pelagos 42 had issue with lume points on the bezel falling off. The P39 had initial issues with the intensity of the lume on the hands being less than the hour markers and very few issues with the appliques on the dial being misaligned. I understand that all issues have been resolved. My FXD is perfect so far.

Ive had a 42mm black dial for a couple months. Flawless +2 sec. Per day.

I had the Pelagos 42mm in blue, and then traded for the LHD. Great watches and great value, but I found the bracelet dug into my arm a lot when I was carrying my kids. I always wore it on the rubber for that reason, which is a shame because the bracelet is awesome aside from the comfort factor.

I can’t talk about the pelagos (since I don’t have one), but I own 4 Tudors, 3 modern and 1 vintage - they get the most wrist time out of all my watches. Also, when I wear a watch I never take it off, I work out, shower with it, even go bouldering and I’ve never had any issues with any of them. Ive owned three of them for 3 years and the most recent one Ive had it for a year. They also keep time flawlessly. Hope this helps

Love my pelagos 39. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. The lume on the hands is terrible though.

I had the Pelagos 39 and there are two issues:

1. noticibly stronger lume on the markets/weaker lume on the hands.

2. Right tolerances on the clasp where the T Fit slides along (essentially scrapes the top part of the link)

Some people have also noted that the clasp shield point was too sharp and cut themselves.

I had one lumenplot fall out when a big temp change occured to my watch…. It has been replaced under warranty a couple of years ago, no issues since and it runs smooth and is a real tool watch , not to heavy… can take a knock and wont break the bank if you need to replace it….

Love my pelagos, one little gripe tho… sometimes if i leave it on my nightstand to sleep it can be a bit noisy to me, im a terrible sleeper, and i tend to focus on the sound of it , dont know if its the spring ore something else but i hear the watch

Total dealbreaker for me thanks for the info.. that’s something that once bothered me a bout a tag watch. I sleep with my watches on And the sound of was annoying.

I have owned them all and had multiples at a time. Never an issue with any of them and for the money it is one of the best divers on the market in my opinion. Don't get bogged down in internet chatter. Anything can happen but more than likely, not.

Loving my first Tudor. No issues as of yet, nor do I expect any. Whether the fixed on a strap, or the classic with a bracelet, it is an incredible watch that I would be comfortable wearing every day.

I preordered my pelagos after seeing it at Bazel in ~2012 and received it from the first batch sent to Canada. I drove to CAN and purchased it since Tudors weren’t sold in the US at that time. Pretty sure I have the first Pelagos in the US (hodinkee even grabbed a pic at a trunk show and featured it on their site). Mine has been flawless and I beat the sin out of it from back country adventures to playing with kids. Never been serviced and still maintains great time. Good luck!

It's a great watch. I've had one on and off since 2015. No QC issues have ever come up with the watch, but I do know if something goes wrong, the company will stand behind it.

The thing about QC issues is I don't believe everything I read or hear on the internet. Not even here.

If you like it, you should get it.

I have a blue and a black, both 42 mm, blue on bracelet, black on a rubber Crafter Blue. They are outstanding watches. Lume fell out of the black and that was covered under warranty. E Z P Z

I've worn my ETA Pelagos almost every day for a decade now, even with owning multiple watches it gets nearly all the wrist time. It is beat up and I did lose a lume plot after 8 or 9 years of abuse, it was 700 hundred something for the new bezel and a well deserved movement service. Zero regrets here, go for it.

Have had a 42mm Pelagos 5-liner (in house movement) in blue for several years now. It was one of the first "nice" watches I ever bought for myself. Not a single issue. It's a really handsome watch. I think the clasp is Tudor's best, even better than the new T-fit.
